Flipping and flopping, eh?

You can flip it, but you have to keep adding oil a lot!

Ok, the main problems..
1- The shifter comes out the top (no exposed shift rods like the 300)
2 - The rear output is also offset, and thus would get flopped to the other side at the same time!

it would be better to cut the axle tubes and change them side to side. skeetshooter just did this to put it in the rear.

while there is a clear t-case pic up there, i had an idea to chop off the "lumps" so the shifter rods would protrude and then use a simple o-ring cap it off idea to have a simple twin stick setup...

so many ideas, not enough time....

another idea was a glove box mounted t-case with a rubber band drive coupler around a common drive shaft......still working out a few details.....

Exactly the same as 2hi/4hi in a full transfer case.

ie, 1.409:1

It's the same case, just missing the front output shaft, and probably a few other internal things.

So did they still have leaf springs in the front and a diff housing?

Got any pics?

We never got these in Aus and i had never even heard of one before just curios about them now.

Cool so they can be easily converted to 4wd from 2?
I guess its just add a diff and a 4wd T/case.

I'm told the front springs are different too.

I am in the process of converting one into 4wd. It even has the wiring, just plug the transfer case, and bingo! you've got the 4wd light. It might be missing the bulb.. But hey..

See http://www.explorerforum.com/tdavis/zuk for pics on it, which includes the dummy front axle.

that old front axle would make a really wicked "steerable" trailer........... * imagining the possibilities*:D

oh and BTW nice steering stuff;)
