Hopefully this is in the proper place, but is it possible to redrill an 8.8 axel to a 6X5.5 lug pattern?

See no reason why not. Long time ago when I was Tough Truck racing I used a 9 inch from out of a 78 LTD wagon (because I had it) under my race truck and had to redrill the pattern in it. Was probably the worst possible way to do it, but it never failed me. It was the type of flange that had two huge retainer bolt access holes in it between the original lug holes, so there was not enough room to just drill a fresh pattern- I cut some pieces of appropriate bar stock that fit in the lug holes and welded them in, ground them down then drilled the new pattern. Broke shafts from time to time. but never had the flange cobble job fail.
