Sorry guys, I tried to search, but after a long day,a xanax and a glass of two buck chuck, my searching skills are slightly sketchy. I've got a guy interested in buying my t18/d20 combo, but he wants to put it in a jeep. Is this possible?

Didn't jeeps come with that combo?

advanced adapters..............whatever motor to trans, then fab a crossmember for the trans.might have to cut/patch floor also, depending on shifter location.don't forget mounting points for linkage and pedal assembly.you can build/fab almost anything into something else, just a matter of, is the end result worth the money and time for the finished product.

Why would he go to the trouble of all that? Like Urban said Jeep used the t-18 dana 20 combo. All he would have to do would be to find a jeep t-18 bell housing ,flywheel ect. , but if he was gonna do all of that he could just find a t18 wide box out of a jeep from 74-79 I think .

Edit- just thinking that there may be some inputshaft dif. between the Jeep t-18 and IH t-18 like the Ford maybe someone else will chime in.

just sayin anythings possible.i couldn't tell you shit about a jeep or what they came with.don't know, don't wanna know.i would tell the buyer to research it and find out.if it will work, then buy it.i would never rely on a seller to be right on something like that, not sayin you'd bullshit him beefcake just to make a sale, but you know some guy's out there would.it's no different than some auction on ebay where everyone says the same thing.make sure this item fits YOUR vehicle before buying.

Yes, T-18/Dana20 was used in CJs and also in full sized Wagoneers (MJ's I think?)...

Stay away from the FSJ T-18, due to the longer bellhousing and input... Dash/bulkhead and whatnot, not so good for driveline length (and all the narrower ratio versions??)

T-150, T-18... I think there's another that I can't remember... T-98? all the same bellhousing... (this would be for AMC pattern... If for Ford there's also the NP435 with the same bellhousing)

Hell, might as well just read this:

I don't think there is an input shaft difference between the Jeep and IH versions, people have used the Jeep guts in an IH case to get granny low in a Scout. I tried to do the conversion with Ford guts and the input was similar but just different enough to not work. I sold my hybrid to Blackdog or something, a dude in New Mexico and he had to figure out how to make it work.

From Novak site linked above:

"Jeep T18
Jeep released 12 known versions of the T18 transmissions from 1966 and 1984, with the greatest variations being in input shaft configurations and gearing..."

Problem doesn't seem to be between IH and Jeep, but more within the rank of Jeep... like my FSJ mention earlier, there's definitely differences in the T-18's from Jeep.

If the input is 1 1/16 10spline... and the same dimensions... get a different bell and be done with that part...
