: My RCP Crawlers Wreckluse tuber build.
NluvwithXLR8ing 12-04-2008, 11:38 PM Time to get started on this. It has been in the planning stages for quite some time and I think I have a small chunk of it figured out.
HUGE thanks to RCP crawlers for such an awesome chassis! Check it out here: RCP (http://www.rcpcrawlers.com/product.php?productid=1077&cat=0&page=1&featured)
Next step was to figure out how much room I have under the hood. Out of all the scale builds I have done none of them had a scale motor under the hood. This is the perfect time to start, the Wreckluse has such an open design that I couldn't resist.
Here are some quick models of a scaled down 350 with the center hollowed to house a 540 motor.
The motor will be brought to life soon. Along with the headers that are probably going to change once I start adding mounts for the engine and shocks. Possibly a bell crank steering setup as well. "thumbsup"

NluvwithXLR8ing 12-04-2008, 11:39 PM Pics of some metal work. Im starting to enjoy it more and more 8)
Nothing much yet. Just a simple gusset. Might add a few more, dont want to overdue it though. Also added the window braces.

NluvwithXLR8ing 12-04-2008, 11:40 PM Used my schools 3D Printer to print the parts from the models.
Lots of work to go on the parts still. The headers cracked so they need some repair :-(

Grind 12-12-2008, 10:45 AM Very nice build, be glad you can use a 3D printer! I want one but I don't want to spend $40,000 on the one I want.
How strong is that formed ABS print out any way? should of made the chassis from that too. That would be awesome to have a fully built crawler from a 3D printer.:smokin:
montana.matt 12-18-2008, 06:57 AM I think we need some updates:flipoff2:
83vortectoy 12-18-2008, 12:12 PM After your done with the build make sure you get some Panocha (pussy):smokin:
505TJ 12-20-2008, 10:49 PM Nice! :smokin:
That actual motor inside the other is ridiculously cool. All about what kind of tools you can get you're hands on though :shaking: Which makes me made jealous you have access to a 3D printer. You can fab better RC stuff than I can fab real stuff  Anyone plans on radiator/winch setup from the 3D printer or any other things like a transmission or transfer case?
Sick work, can't wait to see the engine all painted up also :grinpimp:
Booger Weldz 12-21-2008, 04:15 PM is the wreckluse 3/16'' solid rod?
The Modfather 12-22-2008, 11:51 AM BadASS idea w/ the motor inside the scale engine. Quite creative!

Killer idea and wayyyyyyy beyond where I am at but super cool.
03dodgeoffroad 12-29-2008, 06:57 PM the only thing that would be cooler that i can think of is building one with a conley v8
NluvwithXLR8ing 01-13-2009, 08:31 AM Ok few small updates. haven't had much time, but I am taking it slow on this build.
Started with the motor(s) mount plate. I guess it worked out after all to spend the time modeling the front of the cage, made this easy. Thanks Harley for the motor slots template. "thumbsup"

Test fit:

Traced onto 16ga steel and cut. This will get welded to the frame once I figure a few more things out.

NluvwithXLR8ing 01-13-2009, 08:32 AM Some mock ups of the front. Had to make sure I am going to have room for everything. Its going to be tight...

Next I needed to build the motor mounts for the 350. The lower tubes were in the way so I came up with this. I will add some plate with holes for the bolts on the block. Should be sturdy enough.

Now for the transmission location. Simply way to take care of this is to extend the motor armature to place the pinion in line and be done with it. Probably the route I will go. I need to make a support at the tranny and the armature extension.

secondarychaos 01-14-2009, 02:09 PM Dude... Wow. I wish i'd thought of this when I had access to a 3-d printer.
absolutely awesome.

Rerock 01-19-2009, 08:22 AM Cool; pics are back...
It definately looks cool with te 3D printer motor!
One suggestion: Instead of using an axial trans; perhaps you could get a 3:1 gear reduction unit from RC4WD. The are the same diameter as the motor (540 can) adn about 1/3 the length. Then, you could bury that in a 3D printed TH400.
Then, be a pimp and use a scale Atlas case.
No one's done that yet...
EDIT: Oh, they're cheap too! RC4WD 3:1 (http://rc4wdstore.com/product_info.php?products_id=742)
Po' riggity 01-19-2009, 08:27 AM I am diggin it! Very nice scaler build!

Anything new on this thing?
NluvwithXLR8ing 01-31-2009, 01:56 AM No real updates yet. I picked up some Pro-Line Flat Irons and 8 shooters. Finished assembling the axles and getting ready to make the motor extension on the lathe this week. Been too busy to accomplish much more :(
Any suggestions on color/paint scheme? :smokin:
SnoopMaxx 01-31-2009, 02:46 AM That motor ....
What kind of 3d printer did you use ?
What material does it use ?
How ībout the Disruptor Planetary Transmission

And the scale Atlas transfer case

Thanks, that was the school 3D printer. Its been a while since I used it so I cant remember the brand right now, it does use the powder and deposits glue for each layer.
Never liked RC4WD products, I have owned multiple products from them and every one has failed :shaking::shaking:
RF axles are cool, not very scale though and for less than $400 I could have a set of fully built axial axles :D
