: Thoughts on game inflation...

Obviously, the economy of this game needs to be stabilized and the mods have taken corrective steps by lowering the interest rates to reduce the amount of available cash in the game.

I don't know how much of what is in the glitter market or the black market actually sells, but to keep people from just listing things at silly prices---and thereby inadvertently creating a new market value that becomes the norm---how about charging people a percentage of the sale price at the time they list the glitter or item? This may drive some prices up a bit as people try to compensate for the listing fee, but it would also encourage people to list at prices that would actually sell.

Any other ideas?

It is really hard to do that in a game like this. There it so much freedom that people can list at what price you want. I think the items being regualted through city travel is a great idea that is in place. As for the low level stuff, you will always have that on the market for low-to-outrageous prices. I think in time the black market will go away and people will use the chat room for selling items and this will be controlled by simple suply and demand.
As far as glitter goes, when the banks roll out glitter will be controlled like cash is. People will save and gain interest and resale. I really like the direction things are going market wise. Black Market item prices will drop drastically as more people gain levels.

I think it'd be more realistic to just put a cap on glitter prices. It's how I've made the majority of my money, but I've had one particular member buying a lot of mine and have almost always listed mine well under what the next lowest priced glitter is.

Putting a cap on glitter prices will result in no glitter on the market. Seen it go down that way manytimes before.

You think so? I'm not even suggesting a super low cap, maybe something $4,000-5,000. I've sold it as low as $1,000, and as high as $3,500 I think, and the only reason I went as high as that was because the next cheapest was maybe $5,000.

Looking now, the cheapest is $8,000 and the highest is $30,000 :shaking:
