i have to replace the rear yoke on my 60, and if your like me....well i don't like making numerous part runs. I was told that the socket size is 1 5/16, i thought that was right, well the socket is to big as in it can't fit inside the yoke. I have some big sockets and tried to see if any of those fit, but they don't and have already made a trip to napa for the socket $26 bucks, and then sears for the socket wrench $52 bucks (napa wanted $76 bucks for it!!!!!). Frustrated as i made a trip yesterday to sears b/c the lady said they had the 1 5/16 (if they did, it would have been cheaper than napa) but it was 15/16...i just want to replace the yoke, and all i need to know is the socket size to fit over the pinion nut, the yokes are 1310 if that is needed.
any help????

You might try to find a 1 & 5/16 thin wall socket. That is the size for the pinion nut as far as I can remember (and I thought I had that bigass socket for a reason :D)

I think this came up a while back, you need to get the 12 point thin walled socket.

I use a MAC 1 5/16 6 point standard non impact socket , and you can get one from your local MAC tool truck.
MAC part # V426R
I also belive a Snap On 6 point will also work.

Do you have a Fleet Farm near you? I was looking at their sockets the other day and they have an "economy" line that goes up to 2" and the biggest one was something like $15 I think.

use a craftsman and grind down the end going into the yoke, just enough to fit in.

That's what I did. Makes it easy to find in the set, too! :D

I bought a chrome 12 point socket from CarQuest for 6 bucks but it was an inch drive. So I welded an old 1/2 inch drive impact socket to the top. I used a big bolt and some flat washers to hold them together and align them while I welded it. Works great and was cheap.
