: Desperatley seeking.....
queenieuk 08-14-2002, 04:58 PM ....SPACE....
Take pity on a single newbie woman as I am about to embark my first Scout.
Not sure what I am getting into but I know that FUN and EXCITEMENT are around the corner.!
The first obstacle is finding a place to store the beauty (800)
I am willing to pay storage at a resonable price.
Has to be somewhat local to my area - Modesto.
I have already LOST one chance to own a Scout and I do not want to let that happen again....so please help me. I anticipate having the beauty up and running in a shortish amount of time!!!
Any helpful info would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks
Queenie:)

queenieuk 08-15-2002, 08:44 AM Good Morning Fella's,
Yep I was told to watch out for you chap's!!!
But to be honest I think you guys need to watch out for me!!!!
Anyhow at least my scout has 2 wheels and an engine so to speak!
I have a lot to learn and am anxious to start....RUBICON here I come.
Yes I am single 35yrs old. Born and raised in London England. Now residing in Modesto Ca....Armpit Capital!
I have 3 boys 12,6 and 4. One of the reasons I am doing this is for them. I could stay home and show them how to quilt..but thats not my thing. I was introduced to Scouts a few years ago...was not impressed as I thought they were too big and cumbersome...however after my ride along with a group of Scouts I got to see them in action and was kind of bitten so to speak.....
Gee I'm a typical woman hear me roar!!! I am looking for a space to keep it until I get it running..I am looking at maybe a few months. If anyone can take pity on me for now I'll take it!!! It will be worth it....How many WOMEN Scout owners that ride the RUBICON do you see???????? I can't wait.....I have waited long enough......by the way yes I do have spunk!!!!!:flipoff2:

It's a lot of $$ but I had no choice. Just to give you an idea of how much it may cost you. Hopefully you could find someone to do it cheaper for you. Good luck.

Well, it seems that all of our significant-others wheel our rigs!:D so, they probably don't have much tech to provide...Rubicrawler's, Daughter, Rockgoddess has her own Scout but she hardly ever posts...
We have a large group of Scout owners scattered all over Nor Cal...just keep hanging out here and we will her you where ever we can...btw, do you know the spec on your Scout? Year, engine, etc?
Also, the binder bulletin (http://atlas.binderbulletin.org/index.php) has tons of Scout info in there forums and FAQs
BTW, we here on the Pirate board are little (OK, a lot!) more crass than most forums...so, with that in mind, I forgot our usual welcome...so :flipoff2: Welcome Newbie :flipoff2:
Also, do you mind killing the caps..my eyes are burning...
thx,
sd
queenieuk 08-15-2002, 10:58 AM SORRY..OOPsssssss
At this point all the info I have is ..152 possible 4cyl year could be '64. I am going out there at lunch to pay for it and look up close so maybe I'll have more to go by.
I do know that it needs a BIT of work......I'm in for the long hall....have already told the boys to get their own!!!:p
I have a couple of freinds that are going to help me with it...so we will see if they are true to their word.
I want to be involved with this as much as I can....like I said before...I am woman hear me roar!!!
Not sure how far I can push here but don't take this a cheeky but back atcha all:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

If it runs, you need to get the thing over during one of the wrench days we host and tune it up. Oh and throw some Scout II 44's under the thing. The stock axles are :barf:
Newbie up :flipoff2:
queenieuk 08-15-2002, 11:57 AM No it does not run.....:( YET!!!
Looks like it is plano stock.....axles will be 44 though. Man I'm so excited...
So many things to think about doing to it...so many things to pick from and change.....I can't wait to get started.
Thanks
newbies aren't so bad......or are they?:flipoff2:

queenieuk 08-15-2002, 03:05 PM Here's a question ....If I need a replacement carb what would be a good one for a 4cyl?
Scout Dude 08-15-2002, 03:11 PM One off of a Snapper!
queenieuk 08-15-2002, 03:21 PM Snapper...

Scout Dude 08-15-2002, 03:39 PM Ya know, Snapper:
Scout Dude 08-15-2002, 03:41 PM Just kidding...you're going to need another single barrel carb that will bolt up..try another scout, or maybe an old jeep..also, try the wanted section of the Binder Bulletin (Here on out know as BB) someone is bound to just give you one or maybe only pay a few pennies for it...
queenieuk 08-15-2002, 03:44 PM Another Scout 800 or II. ?
Thanks for the info
Will check out binder later:)
iscout62 08-15-2002, 05:04 PM I have a complete 152, yours for the taking...

iscout62 08-15-2002, 09:29 PM Just haul it away. I runs very well, you might want to just swap it into your rig.
I'll give you the engine and tranny (t90) together if you want.
I'm putting a chebby in my Scout this weekend if all goes as scheduled, so I'll need the space!
Cheers,
:)

Mechanos 08-23-2002, 11:04 AM I know the feeling queenie..... I've been at my project for about a year now. I've replaced about 1/4 of the tub with new steel, reworked the spring mounts front and rear, reverse shackle in the front, SOA front & rear, completely rebuilt the front & rear axles with new everything (Detroit in the rear and ARB up front), located and bought all the pieces I need for the high steer conversion, new springs, rebuilt the transfer case, am rebuilding the T19 wide right now and still need to swap in the 345. It's been a long year and I still have a little ways to go yet, but the light at the end of the tunnel is definately getting brighter and brighter.
queenieuk 08-23-2002, 11:22 AM A YEAR......
I'm hoping to get mine together in about 2-3 (looking like 4) months.....
Am I being realistic or trying to live a pipe dream:eek:
????????????
Mechanos 08-23-2002, 01:34 PM Well, when I first drug it home I was thinking 5-6 months... it took me almost 7 months just to do the tub repair (rust was extensive with mucho structural work needed). Then I thought two months to do the rest and it's been 5 months and I "estimate" another 2 months to 'finish' it. The last 5 months have gotten me into the $$$ end of the project and I find myself waiting on paychecks to buy the goodies I need.
I did suffer from the "while I'm in there" line of thinking but the up side to that is this thing will have been COMPLETELY gone thru and rebuilt/replaced from stem to stern. It has been my experience with projects like this one that if you take your time and money estimate and double it, your getting close. In my case, looks like I should have tripled it to be in the ball park. I could have done much less to get it on the trail, but I didn't want to hurry up and skip some things only to have to tear it apart again to fix something I neglected to do the while I had it apart.
Best of luck on your project and keep us inform on the progress. I you have a digital camera, take pics and post them for us to eyeball...
queenieuk 08-23-2002, 01:39 PM I am planning on taking pics ...by now you guys should have an idea as to what I am up against anyhow???
Hopefully by Monday I'll give you all an eyeful!!!!
