1) Open your phone book.
2) Go to the Yellow Pages.
3) Look up "steel" and find a supplier or suppliers.
4) Call and get quotes.
5) Call back cheapest supplier.
6) Place an order and pay.
7) Pick up steel from them.

look for Marmon-keystone and/or tw metals. I was quoted something like $5/ft in small quantity and $2/ft for 200-300 foot quantity. The more you buy the better the price.

Hope this helps! :flipoff2:

We found a local steel supplier who sells DOM delivered for $24/stick when you buy 5+ sticks. Call around and you can score some good deals.

Call around. I was just recently shopping for 1.75" 0.120 HREW and had prices for $2-2.75/foot. Called a big local supplier that supplies lots of other midwest cities and it was $1/ft. so I got 25 sticks :flipoff2:

Bigdude, you need to spill the source on that one. I may need to use it over the winter.

Oh guess what????

I got chico from the board and another buddy Greg to agree and split up shop rent with me. We'll be using it to work on our Jeeps, but any side jobs I can pull will be welcome. Looking around for a place right now. Just bare bones, single bay, overhead door, 220 & 110 outlets. I'll be in the market for a 220 rig and maybe a different bender soon (I can use Brians all I want for now). The tube guy will have our shop addy and deliver to me once the lease is signed. You can pick up your orders there :)

Tried that, thanks for your quality/intelligent help :flipoff2:
Suppliers in my region/area like to deal with business's and not the little guy.

Any company names to go with the quotes listed? Looking to order a few 200 ft. loads in 1.50" and 2.0" in .120 and .250 wall.

When mentioning the price... could you also mention the SIZE? :p

Locally 2" x 0.120" DOM runs about $5/ft for small quanities. Drops to about $3.20 for large quanities (5 sticks, meaning 100 ft).

Now to find a decent price on a used 4000 lb fork lift. :) Seriously, most of my two story shop will be built solo... so finding a decent forklift for under $3K.... also handy for moving those 1" steel plates!!!

See if you have a Dillon Supply branch in your area. We have a big Dillon warehouse here in Raleigh NC and if they don't stock it they can get whatever you want in a week or so. If it comes from a steel mill they can get it. If all else fails look in the phone book for race shops and call them and ask where they get their stuff. Sometimes a personal visit does better than a phone call.
