Was wondering if anyone has sunken an 8274 winch inbetween the framerails on a YJ.. if so.. how did you take care of the front tubular frame crossmember, the front body mount?? and how did you allow clearances for the steering box, and the front shackles?? just a idea i've been toying with after reading a writeup over on 4x4wire where a fella i know did it to his CJ..

anyone that's attempted or thought about this.. i wanna see pics or input..

I'm doing it on my cj, and my buddie is doing his as well.

for a yj, you'll have to remove the cross-tube, and when the
"pan" for the winch is made, a front-clip mount is integrated into
the pan as well. since the steering box also attaches to the
pan/crossmember on the cj, (not sure about yj) the step-down
has to be after the steering box mount portion.

it's really not that much to do... but then again it requires alot
of welding equipment, and either use of a pressbrake or an
ironworker..
