i have an 92 yj with a dana30 front. Is there a cheep junk yard up grade that wont be to wide ,have the same 5 0n 4-1/2 bolt pattern , and driver side drop? Im just looking for more strenght. I have 4:10 gears with an aussie in it now. my jeep is a 6 cyl. and i run 33" tires

Ever broke anything? The 30 is by no means a strong axle but it should handle your 33's just fine. Get a couple spare shafts and call it a day.
If your dead set on a swap....look for a waggy 44. Its driver side drop, and within an un noticeable width range. Unfortunaly its gonna be low pinion. In all honesty though its not a huge upgrade if you ask me. If you are a knowlagable, edjucated driver and know really how to wheel your rig you'll be breaking stuff on a 44 with 37's.

thanks for the info. i havnt wheeled it yet. i broke 2 axle joints when i had a cj7 with a d30 and just wandering about an upgrade. i did put a little stronger than stock ujoints in the yj , and i picked up a spare set of axles out of a 87 xj. i guess with 33" tires and a light foot i might be able to run it. ive heard some people put chrome moly shafts with bigger u joints ,but im not sure how much it would help. and i havent checked the price yet.

Run some newer XJ or TJ shafts. They have a bigger Ujoint.Guys run 37s on the Dana 30.Not saying its right but they do.Your 33s should give it no problem.

I ran Warn inner shafts (took out the two pass. side shafts so no disconect) Yucon stubs & Spicer 760 u joints on 36 13.50 Irocs. for years. broke a ring&pinion which became the weak point.I now run a high pinion 44. Would not change a HP 30 for a low pinion 44.

One thing to note.I believe you need a new axle seal when you run the XJ/TJ shafts. When you run that shaft it eliminates the Central Axle Disconnect CAD which isnt the greatest.

Any TJ which start at 97-up.The XJs [Cherokee] I dont really know the year I would assume 98+.

X2. and it goes in theDrivers side pig. If you get the Warn pass. side shaft you can get the kit with two seals. One in the pig and another to replace the large seal in the pass. tube.(would not actulay be necessary) The inner shafts were around $200 a side as i recall.

I used a seal in the diff and a seal in the disconnect housing - it really takes two, as most guys have experienced leaks with one or the other.
here are the part #'s that i used:
Differential Inner Seal - Chicago Rawhide CR11343
Disco Outer seal - Spicer 46470

thanks for the input. i can see that if you only run the inner seal mud would accumulate in the vac-um housing. it seems the outer seal would eventually fail when both are installed because it wouldnt be getting any lube.
