: Hydro assist ram protection/guard

Anybody got a good picture/idea for a hydro assist ram guard?

I rammed my ram into a big rock yesterday and would rather not have that sick feeling come over me as I walk to the front of the truck to check for damage...

Still running a wimpy D44 with the tie rod in the stock Chevy D44 position. The ram is mounted on the driverside parallel with/and almost directly behind the tie rod.

I'm thinking a piece of bent tube that sticks out past the ram and tie rod. Only problem the ram mount closest to the diff. is right up against the diff, so I don't have any room weld on a tube there... Maybe run it all the way across the diff. cover and go that way -- set it up so the cover barley comes off. I shouldn't need to pull the R&P until I blow it up anyway...

Raise the tie rod. :flipoff2:

I know you probably don't want to dump the high steer money into that D44 now that you have a D60 waiting in the wings. I never had to think about protection for mine since I have high steer and mounted the ram directly behind the tie rod.

If I raise the tie rod it will hit the oil pan... That is why it has been in the low position all along.

Hmmm.... I didn't have that problem.

Tru dat!

I didn't see him try any of the really tough stuff this weekend. Maybe he didn't want to show me up.

Take a piece of tube with the same ID as the OD of the ram. Cut it in half and hose clamp it to the ram. Won't keep you from bending the ram shaft but it will keep it from getting more dented.

That idea sounds gay. Kind of like when I welded a piece of angle iron to the factory drag link. Then bent the drag link and the angle iron. :shaking:

If web wheeling is easy to do, web repair should be even easier.

Can you post a pic. I'm thinking your on the right track, two tubes coming off the axle with a "rock feeler" attached to it.
