I am looking at a 52 chevy truck to build or put my running gear in. I currently wheel a 81 gmc k3500 crewcab with 12 in superlift 3in body crossover steering ram assist d60 14b 205 350 turbo 400 on 44 superswampers. My question is how much fabrication would it take to put my running gear under the 52? I just dont know that much about these older chevys.

you mean like this? (rockwells and 44's )I did a body swap,If i was to do it again i would use the stock frame and move suspension mounts instead http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p259/Tim_57/uglyatoroville.jpg

I think this is one of those "If you have to ask you don't want to know" deals. It is going to take a lot of fab work, not only to swap everything over, but also bracing up the old frame to handle the abuse. It's not a swap really, you're pretty much rebuilding the entire truck. IMO you'd be better off shortening your current frame and swapping bodies.

thats a nice truck you got there. you got any build pics? Not really,I built it back when everyone still had 35mm camera's:) I would have to dig thru the old albums to see. I do have this pic of it back when i drove it on the street with 42's and 3/4 running gear. When i first built it I was running 32's on ithttp://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p259/Tim_57/oldugly.jpg

Yep that was what i was trying to decide body swap or box the old trucks frame. Right now I am leaning toward buying rockwells and building another truck.
