I am pretty sure you guys can't get these but down here in Australia we can buy a YZ250WR which is basically a full blown YZ engine and suspension/chassis, plus some pipe restrictions and indicators/dials etc.

Here's a link for you to have a look: YZ250Wr specifications (http://www.yamaha-motor.com.au/motor/motor_detail.asp?MD_ID=66&modelcatid=5)

Basically my question is to anyone that has a YZ250.
How do you find it?
Can you compare it to say a WR250 or YZ250F or any of the 250 four strokes out there.

I am looking for a new bike, but am restricted to 250cc as I am just getting my license again. I am 6"4 and say 215pounds, will be riding a lot of trails, forest, sand, and need to keep up with some brand new KX250/YZ250 etc.

Any opinions welcome really.
And you guys should start harassing yamaha to import these. :D

You're killing me.:vader2:
I used to race (MX) a 96 YZ250. I used to weigh about 190lbs. I left it stock and I regularly got the hole shot during the 2000 season.

I was in the 0ver-30-beginner class, but I felt very confident on the bike. I don’t ever remember wanting more power on the MX track, except when I rode it in the Southern California Desert and I didn’t like holding the throttle open for that long. It gave me the creeps hearing the motor sing for that long. The other time it lacked was on a sand hill climb, but that was without a paddle.

It was very suitable for tight single track.

I no longer race, so I sold my bike with the intent to buy a dirt bike I could make street legal. We can’t have a 2-smoke on the streets of California. :boxer is evil: :P

I don’t’ know if this helps, but I miss my bike. And it makes me feel better to talk about it. :D
