: New LOSI Crawler
godyilla 12-09-2008, 05:20 PM i don't know how many of you have seen the new comp. crawler LOSI is releasing after the first of the year check it out you haven't:
"Team Losi Racing’s Comp Crawler is the first rock crawling platform in the industry to offer a revolutionary front and rear “dig” transmission. The use of an optional third channel setup allows the front or rear drive axle to be disengaged, locking the wheels in place and acting as a steering brake for precise lateral movement on and over obstacles. The transmission case has been fitted with adjustable servo mounts that will allow for the use of most “mini” servos and includes an aluminum servo arm. The third channel on a 3-channel radio (such as the Spektrum DX3R) allows the full use of the DIG transmission, and also requires a micro servo installation for actuation. If you do not have a 3-channel radio system or extra servo there is no need to worry - the Comp Crawler will function with full time 4wd with our without a dig servo hooked up."
Key Features
*Compact Front & Rear Locking (DIG) Center Transmission allows the crawler to overtake obstacles with ease
*Front and Rear Solid Axle with Worm Gear Drive
*4-Link Suspension offers 70 degrees of articulation and minimizes front and rear axle swing, allowing for more precise handling
*Zero Ackerman Steering provides class leading performance with 45 degrees of steering throw
*Front and Rear locked differential provides full time 4wd
*3-Piece 2.2" Bead Lock Wheels with aluminum outer rings
*National Champion 2.2 Losi Rock Claws Tires with foam inserts
*Twin Vertical Plate Chassis with adjustable upper shock mounts
*4" Aluminum Threaded Shocks with Titanium Nitride (TiNi) Shafts allow the suspension to articulate without any binds.
*Durable, telescoping CV drive shafts allow for increased steering range
*Aluminum Upper and Lower Suspension Links for added strength
*Lexan Grappler Pro body is optimized to USRCCA Rules and allows for clearance of the tires as they articulate
*Race Roller Chassis is preassembled; simply add electronics, paint the body and go

sloppy12 12-09-2008, 11:13 PM it is another great option for people the worm gear axles will be awesome..
nckwnchstr 12-10-2008, 04:22 AM i'm debating on getting this .... it would be my first RC Crawler ... what kind of electronics would i need to get to complete this? just batteries? or are we talking batteries, motor, servo's and controller?
nevermind ... found info on the "features" page ...
Deezul 12-10-2008, 08:58 AM i'm not sold on worm gears yet. My Axial is a rock racer at this point and the drag on worm gears would probably suck for that.

I have to agree with that... I would not want these axles for a racer or a scaler... but with that said I have not tried them yet and may change my mind once I have a set
benttoy 12-10-2008, 02:07 PM Yeah I will have one :flipoff2:
Weasel 12-11-2008, 02:19 AM I may get one, I have a micro right now and it's a blast. Just got it runing after the cat chewed up the tires.

On another note front u-joint fell apart after twenty minutes, Losi said they will send new parts. Be carefull parts are extreamly small and can disapear in an instant. It will stop the fun instantly:eek:
godyilla 01-10-2009, 09:40 AM has anyone gotten theirs yet?
skulltoy 01-10-2009, 10:05 AM They are not out yet.
MAD MAC 01-10-2009, 04:08 PM Since I grew up with Losi stuff I will be getting one:D
I had the Jrx T and Jrx 2 I raced pretty much every week as a kid.
Every damn dollar I earned mowing, shoveling, and anything else we could do for cash went to our cars.
I still am a Losi Nut even thought they sold out:( I still believe they make a good product and are always innovative.
I still have a few cars
XXX-T
LST-2 With a ton of shit on it, Nitro cost to damn much money:eek:
Micro-T With lithium, it's ungodly fast.
Mini Crawler its just a blast.
I will be buying a 1/10 as soon as they come out.
I have already put shocks, links, flipped the tranny and ordered a lipo split pack for the Mini Crawler.
Its a sick addiction.
Mac
solar1 01-10-2009, 08:23 PM I love my AX10 but wish they would hurry up and release the Losi. It looks sweet!
Lazybum 01-11-2009, 07:56 PM has anyone gotten theirs yet?
I drive for Losi's rock crawling team, I've had the privilege to take the 2.2 Losi out for a weekend outing. It crawls very well... The front and rear dig works flawlessly, the steering is killer, and axles are pretty cool. The worm gear setup allows for a ton of diff clearance and control in technical stuff.
Simply put... It flat works :smokin:
Currently, Losi is ironing out a few minor problems that we found in testing it, and working on the final gear ratios. Everyone at Losi wants to be 100% sure that this rig will dominate the competition. I will keep you guys posted on a release date once I know more.
MiddleT 01-14-2009, 03:22 PM has anyone gotten theirs yet?

Whitewater 01-14-2009, 04:16 PM so for crawling and my first rig would I be better to get the AX10 or this thing to start with?

Good starter....
I prefer to go hand made myself...
MAD MAC 01-16-2009, 05:57 AM I'm wanting a rig so bad! I am thinking axial myself.
I would wait another month and see what Losi has to offer first.
I will Have one :D
nickrummy 01-16-2009, 08:19 AM I'm interested in the losi for sure. I think it's a neat concept.
With the worm gears there is no coasting correct? You let off the throttle, it stops. No rolling like a normal tranny. Good and bad things there. No need for drag brake so it won't roll back on you and I'm sure it would make dig a lot easier since all you have to do is disconnect the drive shaft and not have to worry about holding the tires. This does get rid of the dig with free wheel option?
This also means that when going down hill you better be good with throttle control or endos might be a problem :D
Whitewater 01-16-2009, 09:57 AM Get a car NOW!!!! Let's get it!!! :smokin:
Help me sell some leaf springs, my race helmet and some fiberglass and I'm good to go!

I am actually now thinking about picking up a Losi MRC 1.9 .... But I need to wait and see how stable my fawkin job is first
Whitewater 01-16-2009, 02:25 PM I went to the hobby shop and was looking at stuff today during lunch. They expect to have this Losi model in sometime in March.

I took it when lazybums back was turned now i want one:smokin:
Lazybum 01-17-2009, 05:20 PM With the worm gears there is no coasting correct? You let off the throttle, it stops. No rolling like a normal tranny. Good and bad things there. That's correct. There is no free wheel option with the Losi rig, but honestly, I never used freewheel with my DNA dig setup. The Losi trans shifted into and out of dig so much better then anything I've driven before, I feel that loosing freewheel is a good trade-off. Plus, the rig just felt a lot more controllable since it didn't want to roll back when you let off the throttle.
The downside is that you will have to drive the rig downhill. You won't be able to coast it down stuff they way you can with rigs now. It took a little getting used to, but I felt confident driving it down anything after a few minutes of driving it.
rock5150 01-21-2009, 12:43 PM CKRC says they are "Released". Does that mean they are available or maybe shipping?
Eagle-Mark 01-21-2009, 11:21 PM You guys should have been doing this 5 years ago when you had to build yer shit not buy it! :D
mudtruck44 01-22-2009, 12:59 AM Just saw this thread...that is sick!!!
Po' riggity 01-22-2009, 08:40 AM I still haven't seen it out and in stock online anywhere. I have a bid in on an MRC... Hopefully I win it.. 13 more hours to go.
Scott
matts88yj 01-22-2009, 02:30 PM I was going to get this one as my first crawler. Since I'm just getting into it I figured this rig could also be used in comps later on if I wanted to enter.
BUT
I just got laid off of work this past Friday so looks like that is getting canned.:mad3:
Eagle-Mark 01-22-2009, 02:39 PM Never saw a Team Losi in person so it's just a crap shoot. I have seen the Axial and several friends have them. They are well built, never brake and have plenty of aftermarket and stock parts avaialable.
Po' riggity 01-22-2009, 03:17 PM Losi has been around FOREVER... I have no doubts that this new crawler will be kick ass.
MAD MAC 03-07-2009, 07:33 PM any word yet fellas on the new big crawler??
matts88yj 03-08-2009, 09:21 AM Mid to late May is the expected release.
MAD MAC 03-08-2009, 10:18 PM I thought it was march Damnit!!!!!!
OKIE ZUK 03-12-2009, 09:42 PM I heard May or June.:shaking:
Monster Yota 04-16-2009, 10:27 PM I cant wait, I am going to buy one... I got the 1.9 Losi and that thing is wicked. It has held up to extreme abuse, for the price you cant ask for more!
Lazybum 04-21-2009, 10:22 AM I heard May or June.:shaking:
The rig will be available mid/end of May. Everything is done and in production, it just takes time. We've solved the worm gear issues and a few other things that was holding it back, and the rig is ready to rock :smokin:
Keep an eye on the Losi team blog. We'll keep updating everything as we get closer to the release date.
