All, I've got an EB w/ 38's that I normally drive to and from the trail. I'm getting sick of getting stranded because of too much fun on the trail and am considering flat towing with my 1/2 ton Silverado. I want to flat tow because it has the new aluminum 327 and I don't want to fawk up the motor pulling the extra weight of a trailer.
So does anybody flat tow w/ 38's? I don't want to carry 33's with me for towing so that isn't an option either. Thanks!

You may find yourself with caster issues....depends on how well it tracks behind the truck, and only a test run will tell for sure. Another tip is to put MAX air pressure in the 38's....minimize the rolling resistance.
I don't know why it wouldn't work, but IMO you're gonna start going thru tires just that much faster, since the towbar will increase the scrub resistance on the front two...at $800+ per set of 4, it might be cheaper to buy a used trailer rather than replace tires every 2 years.
Plus, if you bust certain parts (rear ends, rear shafts, etc) yer still screwed. BTDT. It's why I only towbarred for 2 years...came home on a borrowed trailer almost as much as behind my truck. Trailer solved all that.

Same thing for me on the hitch. Only I go 70+ :D When I had death wobble it was scary as hell, but with the Ram steering it tow perfect....better than it drives

If you flat tow enough you can get real good at it. I used to be good at 8 wheel drifts going around corners without losing too much speed. I also now have a trailer and a family so I wouldn't try it any more!!!

i flat towed with 38's for a distance one time and i can tell you i will never do it again, it was scary on the interstate and i didn't have to go up or down any mountains. i think you should get a trailer too, those new trucks are rated to tow 9200 lbs with the 5.3 and 4.10's so unless you are going to build a lead trailer i think it can handle it
