I have never seen us discuss this here, i know i spelled it wrong but #$%^@ you :flipoff2: ok back to the topic,
Advantages, tons of travel from reltaly short shocks
Disadvantages, mayeb to soft, one shock on comprssion, and one on rebound might lead to floating, and takes up a lot of room to mount it.
I was talking to scott @ rockstomer the other day, this is what brought it all up

is that Coby's Bronco? Scott was saying he built something like that for him.

to much crap, give me two RS9012's mounted at an angle and you will have more then enough dampening(you could probably get away with just one shock but I like to go fast sometimes too) and travel you don't need some jungle gym of junk.

There's one floating around this area. From what I've seen, it appears to bounce A LOT!

Or maybe that's just the 44 boogers.. ;)

a 9012 mounted at an angle only give about 17-18 inchs (guessing) this setup can give up a whole lot more.

I could see the bounce issuse.

Yup, thats Coby's

I guess it would come down to how much is enough then, for me take something like a rancho or bilstein with 14" of travel mounted at 45 degrees you would get almost 20" of travel not taking into the change of angles and arc of the axle. With this setup mounted 20" in from outside edge of tire and a overall width of 84" you would have 38" of wheel travel on EACH axle. These are VERY rough numbers but I think they do something towards proving my point. If you need more then 6' if travel build yourself one of them jungle gyms.

I do have to admit however that this is a very trick setup witch shows good engineering and great fabrication skills.

It could be a good way to use some short coilovers and then change the valveing and coils to make it all work. Th desert guys do this in different ways to get 30" or wheel travel out of a 16" shock.

A guy in our club has a set up like that but they point towards each other(side to side) it seems to work quite well and allows his buggy leafs to really open up. I don't know how much body roll it gives you though.

Some pics of a cantaleaver shock system. By the way this is GOAT1's rig as this should be followed up by a post from him.

It looks like in that set up you need a longer shock to get the same travel with out a cantilever but maybe im wrong. has any one tried the cantilever thing to get more travel out of air bags?

Actually alot of the lowrider truck use cantilever in the rear and get about 24-30 inches of travel.

I'm not real up to date on lowrider modifications, but why would they need 24-30" of travel:confused:
For hydraulics or something?

Mike Neibure (sp) used cantilevered air bags on the rear of his quagmire truck a couple TTC's ago. Supposedly it ride great, think he got most of his flex from it since the front had a strange linkage that limited flex. There should be some pics on line of it somewhere, but I havent looked.
