$3k.

Little parts, tires wheels etc all add up.

maybe you'll do it for less, maybe more.

There is no set amount. There are MANY variables that come into play. Are you using leafs or links?? Can you fab your own parts or are you buying a kit?? Also, plan on rebuilding that 60 to the tune of several thousand dollars(bearings, seals, gears, axles and traction devices). From the sounds of your post you have ZERO clue as to what you are doing. I'd suggest spending more time reading and less time posting.

It may have been said as a sarcastic remark, but that's about the most truthful answer one can give to this type of question.

Hey JoeyD, What's up? :D

It gets expensive and you don't realize all the little things. Take the axle for example. You probably need seals, ujoints, possibly bearings, calipers, pads, lines, etc. Then take wheels and tires. your into that 1500 anyway.

When i did mine on my 81 Datsun, I got a complete truck off ebay for the axle. i used the axle mounting points and even got to reuse the steering form the parts truck, drive shafts as well just lengthened it. just to get the truck rolling with using all the parts that i could from the donor truck i had around 1200 thats not counting gears tire yada yada yada just to be able to go down the he road with the front and rear at the same hight. by the way I'm in the Chevy area with a Datsun 4x4 because i had put in a sbc and 700r4 in the truck.

I had never done this be for so i spent 6 months are more just doing research be for i ever started my project. if you have never done this and don't have a body who has the research is your Friend. After all this is your life your are putting on the front of your truck

one of the things no one has mentioned yet, is that your truck is currently an ifs. that means that your t case is a driver side drop. either keep your current t case get a ford d60 ........ or keep it chevy and change your t case out to an older new process that means the price of a t case and adapter is added to the bottom line

Like they said, there is no set price for a SAS. I'm expecting to spend at least $6k on mine, I've already spent close to $1k and I don't even have enough parts to be worth tearing the truck apart yet.

I did the ORU kit on my 89 GMC K1500 with a Ford axle, now I'm looking for a chevy D60 turbo 400/205 because the 700R4/241 combo sucks if you plan on using your truck for anything after the swap. I spent about $4000 on mine. Ohh yea if you get the Ford D60 you will have to buy the $700 steering kit from ORU that has the crossover passenger side knuckle, drop pitman arm, and steering link. I think it is cheaper and stronger in the long run to just buy a chevy kingpin D60 right off the bat!!! Just my .02 cents
