Here is a 1985 M1008 GM pick up from military surplus. Just got it home. I get alot of these, but I never know the condition of them till I get them here.

1985 5/4s ton, 14 bolt detroit locker rear, D60 front, 4.56 gears, 6.2L diesel, turbo 400 trans, 205 or 208 transfer case- not sure.

Not running- but close to complete- would be a fixer, or parts.

driveshaft in the bed, cut wires, vac lines unplugged, fuel filter off, maybe a few other things.

Going to sell it for what I paid at Government auction- $1800 or possible trades.

I should sell outright and buy the truck from you, but no telling how long that would take. I just sold my last set of wheels today, but I get them all the time. I have some tires. Not sure if I would want to go more than a straight trade, but we can talk. Maybe we can work something out if your buddy can deliver cheap enough.

Honestly, I havent even looked under the hood myself- my guy gave me a report. I will take a couple of pics tomorrow and post them up so you can see under the hood.

i have a 1994 toyota tercel 160k 4 cyl 2 door coupe tags feb/2010 just smogged 35 mpg 5 speed and i also have dana 60 and 14 bolt ff with disk brake conversion willing to tade for one of those military 1 tons

Surplus vehicles sold on the east coast are run through my installation in New York. With down sizing and budget cuts they are being passed out to local and State organizations in leiu of money, so we don't see as many now.

One note: First thing is check the drive shafts. Some chuckle head usually picks them up with a fork truck and sets them on the carrier vehicle, bending the shafts. He don't care, they're scrap to him.

Its pretty easy to get these registered--- get the SF97 gov title ($60), bill of sale, and a weight cert ($10), VIN verify--- take to the DMV and pay the fees! Done!

The cheapest running truck I have is the tan one for $2500. I have a 99% complete parts truck for $1800, but I think it has the wrong 14 bolt rear in it- non corporate, I think. Doesnt have the big hubs sticking through the wheels. So it probably doesnt have the Detroit --- I need to check.

Generally, the M1008 has a 208 transfer case and an open front d60 diff, whereas the M1028 has a 205 and limited slip in front. Both have 14 bolts with a detroit locker rear. All are 4.56 gears. No D44s.

Marks trucks are on good condition he gets them in ruff shape and makes then drivable. i drove his own 1028 and its a nice truck. i would drive one to Alabama.

The reason I ask is that I have a Jeepster body and frame and I think I would rather purchase something like this and then dump the body from it, modify the frame and put the Jeepster body on it to make a unique Jeepster.

It is either that or beef up the Jeepster frame, then move everything over to the Jeepster.

I have the CJ front end so the motor should fit.

Then work on linking it later.

How would these trucks do pulling a single car hauler and a rig? My tow rig got stolen and I need something for double duty as a hauler and snow plow.

Are the 6.2's turbo? What kinda output do they have? Which auto tranny is typically in the trucks?

They would pull a trailer and rig. No turbo. Trans is TH400. Not sure what the hp rating is.
