Ok I know I will probably get my ass ripped for asking this question, but thats why I like this site!!! Anyways I have an 89 GMC K1500 with a Ford Dana 60(drivers side diff) front conversion and a 14 bolt rear. I have a 350tbi hooked up to a 700r4 to a NP241...I've replaced my 700R twice now so I want to replace it with the SM465(fig 8 pattern,10 spline) in my garage, I'd like to hook up a NP205. How could I do that with a drivers side output? Am I boned? or can I buy a late model sm465 with the circle bolt pattern and hook up a ford np205 somehow????

Late model circle pattern will be the easiest. Then read the 205 article that Grumpy put together to get the ford 205 to fit------------or just bolt in a drivers drop 241
If you want to step up to an NV4500 I've got one with a 203c and a ford 205 attached to it

How about a 203/205 doubler with a Ford 205. Thats what I'm running...might be little more work than you want to go through. I'm sure you have the wheelbase for it though...

all i did was cut up a ford adaptor so i had the round pattern, pounded it on the 203 and used a drill press to make the pattern. Very easy. I'm not sure if i rotated the ford adaptor or what but all six holes lined up.
But if you are swapping a 465 after you already had a th400 in your rig it is a LOT of work.

Ford 205
Short 32spline Chevy NP205 input
Late Model SM465 (32spline out of a 4x4)
NP208 Adaptor
Notch adaptor for the shift rails and take 1/4 inch off the bearing retainer on the adaptor side and bolt it up.
I got a Ford 205 behind my SM465 in my 1992 SAS Chevy..
Be sure to get the short input b/c i was told in another thread to use the long input and it won't work.
The 10 spline SM465 won't work unless you swap the shaft.

another option would be to put a chevy bellhousing on a ford np435. it has been done, if u have the right tranny case with the extra material to drill the 1 hole needed for the chevy bellhousing.

465/241 driver's drop existed in 88-92ish chevy trucks. I had a '90 with that combo and with stock 3.42 gears it's low range was lower than my wheeler.

Ok thanks guys, I will look at those options, I like the idea of the 465/241 but I just wanted a stronger t case. I'm also looking in to just getting a th400 with the advanced adapters kit to adapt a ford np205 to a 2wd th400.
