I am wanting to up grade my gearing to my k5 to 513 gears front and rear. looking on 4wheel parts it says (14bolt)i need to have a 456 carrier and for the d60 i think a 410 and or a 456 carrier to add the 513 gears..... how can i tell what i have i did not install the gears on my truck it came with it. i thought it was 456 all the way around but now i am unsure. if i did have to go up in carriers would my locker still work for the both diff's????

14 bolt and Dana 60 carrier split is 4.10 down, 4.56 up.
5.13 gears would theoretically require a 4.56 up carrier, for both axles, unless you currently have a 4.10 down carrier and are running thick gears. In which case all you would have to do is order thick 5.13 gear sets for your axles.
Easy way to tell what gears you have:
-pull diff cover, and count teeth
-look on the ring gear and see what tooth count is stamped
As for your current lockers, what lockers do you have?
Carrier and lockers are designed the same. Basically to fit whatever gear you run.

As far as the 14b goes.... the vast majority of the carriers produced are 4.10 & down and are therefore much more common. Every aftermarket gear manufacturer I've seen only offers 5.13's for the 14b in a thick gear for use on the more common 4.10 & down carriers.
My axle had factory 4.56's in it and therefore had the 4.56 & up carrier. When I bought my 5.13's for it, I had to go pick up a 4.10 & down carrier from another axle since the gears were only offered in a thick gear set.

1 more thing, on gm/chevy/dodge, there are no thick gears. as of to date, only avail for reverse rotation ford high pinion 60's.

Ok, so let me get this straight. I have a 14bolt with 3.73 gears. If I want to go with 4.56 gears I need the thick gear set.
EDIT:::::
My wife explained it to me..... Never mind.
