I bought a 77 chevy 1/2 ton, at least thats what the title says. It has a dana 60 and 14 bolt, and the frame looks way to heavy to be a 1/2 ton, I think someone took a 1/2 ton chassis and put it on a 1 ton frame, How could I verify this? Are there any distinguishing features I could look for to determine if its a 1/2 ton frame or a 1 ton frame, also did Chevy put Vin numbers on their frames in 1977?

The VIN is on top of the frame under the pass floorboard area.

That said, measure the vertical height of the frame in the straight section under the cab. A 1/2 ton will be about 8" whereas a 1 ton will be around 11".

I think you have the right idea, but your numbers are off, a little.
Vertical measurement of frame rail under the cab is 8 1/4" for my k30.
My k20 (same as 1/2 ton?) is 6 1/4".

IIRC, the metal is thicker on the 1 ton frame too

The 1/2 ton will be about .288 and the 1 ton will be .375

Someone correct me on this if its wrong.

Not even close on the thickness...maybe half what Even11 posted.

That link is right next to worthless, most of the dimensions shown are from the frame to the ground. My questions were, how tall is the frame, and what do they weigh. I will admit there are a few dimensions on there that are handy, but it doesnt answer either of my questions. Thanks anyway.
