coilcj 12-12-2008, 07:35 AM I tried searching and could not find anything. Has anyone tubber their rear wheel wells on a TJ to gain that extra 2 to 3 inches of tire clearance? I am trying to keep COG as low as possible while still running 40s and this would be an easy way. I was looking to make new wheel wells, similar to CJ style, and mount them all the way at the upper soft top rail so I could open the wheel well opening up all the way. They cut a section out of the stock cage and butt welded the two pieces of tube back together. I would have (outside of fabbing a whole new cage) would have been to cut the mounting plate off, removed the un-needed section, then flush welded the tube back to the mounting plate. They did sleeve it but I just have questions about the strenght of what they did.
