I tried searching and could not find anything. Has anyone tubber their rear wheel wells on a TJ to gain that extra 2 to 3 inches of tire clearance? I am trying to keep COG as low as possible while still running 40s and this would be an easy way. I was looking to make new wheel wells, similar to CJ style, and mount them all the way at the upper soft top rail so I could open the wheel well opening up all the way. Any pics would be really helpful. Thanks

Thanks for the info, real close to what I am looking to do but raise the wheel well opening all the way up (and still keep the full rear tub for street legality, yeah I know I am nuts but that is the goal).

Not a TJ but the same idea applies.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for and going to do (but a much better job on the roll cage, they get negative points for that one:barf:)

Pics from where I was fitting them in. The go all the way up to the edge of the tub where it starts to bend in for the J-channel. Made out of 18 gauge and bead rolled for some extra strength.

They cut a section out of the stock cage and butt welded the two pieces of tube back together. I would have (outside of fabbing a whole new cage) would have been to cut the mounting plate off, removed the un-needed section, then flush welded the tube back to the mounting plate. They did sleeve it but I just have questions about the strenght of what they did. Seems if they had the fab skills and tools for the other parts, there would have been better options than what they did.

CA_YJ did some on a CJ, same concept:

CrossedUp also did some on CJ too, but you get the point. Similar concepts:
