: Toyota Truck RC??
UGET IT 12-12-2008, 09:53 AM I have seen a few awesome Toyota Truck based RC's with leaf springs, hi lifts and they look real as hell.
Can someone give me a link to a site I can buy that model from. I am really looking for a turnkey unit that I can then modify.
Thanks,
KC

the best were the Tamiya Hilux...old school. they now make one with a similar body , but the drive train is F350 stuff. look up Tamiya Hilux and you will find 2 of them, but be prepared for a price shocker,Chuck
sloppy12 12-12-2008, 10:48 AM looks like tower is out of stock
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTDR4&P=ML
should be able to find them on ebay, the tundra is also out on the same platform and it looks pretty good.. these trucks are not the best performers out of the box so you will have lots of room for modification..
CronusTRD 12-12-2008, 12:27 PM Better off watching the classifieds on rccrawler. You are going to ditch close to 80% of the truck anyway.
Booger Weldz 12-12-2008, 04:26 PM buy an axial scorpion ARTR, an Xtrail chassis and the tamiya body...rcp or rpp(i forget who) sells the 1st gen cab for $17, the windows for $14 and the grill parts for $14...last i checked they were in stock...also theres a guy on rc crawler.com that made molds of the first gen and makes the body parts out of pie tins...they dent and smash just the real thing...his rc truggy is tinfoiled up just about like your old 4runner cab:D

The ones your talking about are older kits and were bitchin! someone built a mini Marlin f-toy out of one. Contact rcp crawlers.com they may be able to steer you in the right direction.
blackrider 12-12-2008, 07:45 PM retro video...

smewhtguy 12-14-2008, 01:35 PM buy an axial scorpion ARTR, an Xtrail chassis and the tamiya body...rcp or rpp(i forget who) sells the 1st gen cab for $17, the windows for $14 and the grill parts for $14...last i checked they were in stock...
I am not the only one spending to much time reading on RCCrawler. Booger nailed with the parts list, or you could get the new tundra kit and swap body's if you are looking to run on a leaf sprung suspension. For the money the method stated by booger will net you a lot more capable crawler for about the same money.
UGET IT 12-15-2008, 03:26 PM Thanks all...............kinda wanted to Old-Schoold real truck look.
Happy Holidays......
jalbrecht42 12-15-2008, 04:29 PM I think the closest thing you can get to turn-key would be to buy a custom off of somebody. 2nd best would be to find a used original Hilux, Bruiser or Mountaineer......
also theres a guy on rc crawler.com that made molds of the first gen and makes the body parts out of pie tins...they dent and smash just the real thing...his rc truggy is tinfoiled up just about like your old 4runner cab:D

jalbrecht42 12-16-2008, 01:59 PM Here's a few turnkey options: (no-one said it would be cheap!)
For $600, 2spd bruiser like rolling chassis
http://rc4wdstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=31&products_id=878
For $800, 3spd bruiser like rolling chassis
http://rc4wdstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=31&products_id=637
(edit) does anybody have any actual experience with these assemblies or piece parts? (transmissions and axles specifically). I see comments and joking and stuff about them on some of the rc pages, but haven't stumbled across any threads that actually talk about these actual parts. Maybe this is just like the precision gears thing on here. Anymore I can't figure out who's joking and who isn't.

Thos are Bad-Ass..............Man they are prict though.
jalbrecht42 12-19-2008, 04:58 PM This chassis also looks interesting, and as far as I can tell it'll probably sell for around $250-ish. I think it may be a little wide for a toyota body though.
