I have a 93 chevy 1500 with an automatic tranie and I drove it home from football practice the other day and it was fine, when I went to get in it after lunch I started it up and went to put it in gear and nothing no reverse, drive 1,2, and when I went to put it in park there was a high speed grinding noise that prevented me from puting it in gear. The truck rolls in every gear with no resistance and I checked the fluid and the linkage and it was fine, I am wondering if it's the torque converter??? Any of your yoda like knowledge would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I had the same problem it was a gernaded carrier in the gm 14 bolt. it wasnt ptitty the frinding going into park is the gear lock in the tail shaft that holds the tricl from rolling. Check the drive shaft for broken ujoints and the rear dif for metal inside....

Check the t-case. When I put the t-case in neutral if I shift the tranny it'll grind.
