mrboyle 12-12-2008, 06:26 PM Went to get my CMMG off of layaway and while I was there I found a deal on a Remington 870 that I couldn't pass up.

Total for the CMMG was $950 w/scope (Millett 6-25x56). The 870 was used for $199.
One question, this is my first shotgun and it has a rifled slug barrel. Can you shoot buckshot out of it or will it damage the rifleing?
TheRedHorseman 12-12-2008, 06:32 PM You can shoot buck out of it, but it will pattern like a donut.

scope (Millett 6-25x56).
how is that scope? is it a good scope? i have nice optics on my hunting rifles but they are only 12 power. i assume it is a 30 mm tube due to the relitive size. i hope that sun shade is removable and not part of the scope. nice looking rig!

Haven't really had a chance to use it yet, but it is a nice clear optic from what I can tell. I have never owned anything larger than a 9 power, so this is a whole new ball game for me. Its actually a 35mm tube and yes the shade is removable.
BigGreenMonster 12-13-2008, 12:35 AM 35 mm.... sweet. pete... can you get them?

He must have went home for Christmas or something....(I think he's a college student somewhere in IL).....I'm sure you will conjure him back up now that you mentioned his name. :shaking:

I heard you have to say his name 3 times while staring into a mirror...
johnwiseman 12-13-2008, 11:40 AM High power optics. 12 and over can be unsetteling at first. You can really see all your shakes and trembles then. Crank itdown to a level you are most familier with at first then once its sited in crank it up and be prepared for confidence to fly out the window. You will get used to it though. I only hunt with fixed 4 power scopes cuz its the tree country here. I have never even seen a deer at 100 yds, just not pssible where i hunt. Did use to have a target rifle that had a fixed 22 power on it though. took some geting used to.
mrboyle 12-13-2008, 12:15 PM Thanks for the info. I shake like a leaf in the wind, so this will be fun! I was planning to go sight it in today until I got up and the wind was plowing at 20+ mph.
