He is the most real hunter on tv. I like how he shoots a 45 lb bow with broadheads developed 60 years ago and he smokes does and is completely thrilled with his harvest. He shoots small bucks and you can tell he is there for the hunt and food.

Don't get me wrong I love seeing people shoot big deer but tv has made it out that horns are the only thing.

Yeah I watched one of those shows. Guy and guide glassing elk. Shoot one. Show ends with the guy hiking back down the mounting with nothing but the horns strapped to his back. :mad3:

Sorry, but I have a very low oppinion of ole Ted. He got caught poaching on private property (not his w/o permission) near here a few years back and because of who he was the DOW turned their backs and let him walk. The guy may be a great spokesman for the hunting croud, but his actions don't always reflect it.

How about a credible source on that? People fall over themselves trying to get him to hunt their ranch/preserve/land/whatever not to mention the land he owns himself. I can't imagine him knowingly poaching someone else's land without permission.
Not saying he's perfect or anything, just saying.

Don't have any "news" source on it as since the DOW never reported it. I got the story from one of the land owners involved. It's been a while so I can't remember all the details but he was on the wrong land hunting with no licence and had shot more than one animal. Don't know how everything went down but do know that the DOW just turned their backs and ignored the case.

Edit: I origionally called BS on the story to the guy I heard it from, until I got the same story from a few other people (including the land owner).

I am for the idea he may have been in the wrong place by mistake. He hunts too much to do stupid, risky stuff like that. If the police backed down then there is less to it then you were lead to belive. And you know stories like this get blown way out of proportion over time. He might have strayed on to the wrong property by accedent the cops came and left, then ten years later he was killing deer by the dozen with his soviet tank and took out half the police department. They get bigger and badder every time they get told. Esspecially when famous people are involved. Some one told me about Chuck Noris filming Walker in their town and how he beat up half the police and everyone in a bank becase they asked him to pay for the floor he skuffed while doing a spinning back kick. I doubt that happened that way. Peeps exagerate too much. Ignore it and it dies.

I also enjoyed his interview on that local news show that they played back. I would have to say, I agree with every single thing he said. I would like to find a youtube link, but youtube is blocked at work.

Yup He is pretty much my idol. Even though he has a tendancy to hunt over corn and stuff, he's still hunting and working hard at it. He is very respectable in that.

Its very easy to "Poach" without realizing it. I was hunting earlier this year on what I thought was the property I had permission to be on. Turns out I was about 40 yards over the property line :homer:

I agree there's likely more to the story than I know. The part that pissed everyone involved off was that he was not sorry for what he did and the local athorities were so star struck by his presence that they didn't care. I'd get the story from the land owner again, but he sold out and moved sometime last year.

Doubtful it was his fault, if it happened at all. Ted doesn't typically hunt outside his personal property unless he's guided.
