Yeah I did a search...........whose got the Crane setup, what's it like? Anybody used both? The Crane is suppose to be all digital while the MSD is analog (HI6 & 6A.)

What engine? I remember Joe Chacon saying the MSD was a waste of $$

I had a msd6 on my 22re...Ended up interrupting the fuel injectors on start up when the truck was warm ( maybe the wrong adapter?) , so I took it off...It was harder to stall with it though.

I've had the MSD 6A on anything from an old Honda Civic autocross car to our current Jeep TJ - I even moved one unit between three different vehicles. I love them. Once you determine the proper plug gap you're set.

I've found that most people who've used them and had problems didn't install them properly or weren't aware that you have to re-gap your plugs (open the gap.)

A digital box also needs to be mounted in the cab (or should be - somewhere where it won't get wet) and is more prone to problems from vibration.

Good luck,

The same time I installed my Hi6A, I installed a bunch of other stuff too. So I can't say if it makes much difference as far as performance. The difference is probably things you don't notice much. Mine passes emissions testing with just a catalytic converter, all the other stuff has been taken off. It always starts on the first rotation unless it's hot. I'm thinking about getting a knob in the cab you can adjust the timing with, it's an add on accessory. The reason I would get it is for towing up mountain passes. I had one problem when I first installed it, I gapped the magnetic pickup in the distributor to far away from the shaft. It's been over a couple of years now and I haven't done anything to it or the plugs, I've just scraped some stuff off the distributor cap and rotor contact area. I drive 20 miles a weekday just to work and back, probably an average number of miles annually, no problems. I have it mounted on the fender wall back by the hood pivot, it probably should be closer to the battery, under the glove box would be a better spot.
