Getting ready to do the cheby tie rod conversion/flip wondering which ends I should use for the drag link. I have a full extra set and I'm wondering if I should use the actual drag link ends, or use tie rod ends on the drag link as well. I'm sure it shouldn't matter either way, just thought I'd ask.

I used Moog ES2082R and ES2083L - 7/8 thread, plenty beefy, and great range of motion.

The ones I have built, I just used the drag link ends on both. Unless you want to connect your draglink to the tierod. Are you gonna use that hollow tie rod you got there? Or something stronger?

Yeah.....that's the snap on reamer. I bought it last winter.
I was thinking about using the the tie rod above for the drag link, since it already has the left hand threads cut in one end. Then I'll probably build my own tie rod and get the threaded inserts or something.
I've finally got all the 8 lug disc parts I need which is what I've been waiting for. For now I'm going to run the drag link to the tie rod, and maybe eventually I'll do a high steer since I have the flat top knuckles.
Beerman, you used drag link ends on your tie rod as well, is that just keep the number of different parts down, or did you have another reason to do that. The drag link ends seem wider, and depending which wheels I end up with, could cause a clearance issue if used on the tie rod. I can't use them on my tie rod anyway because I need to use the other one so the drag link can connect to it.

Yeah, just to keep the spare parts down. You have two of the threaded inserts you need, right in that old tierod. Just cut them off. Turn them down to fit your new rod, and weld them in.

That might be an option if I were lucky enough to have a lathe. But I'm sure paying someone to do that would cost more than the $15 or what the inserts cost. There's also a few local guys that build HD steering parts, I might do that since it would only cost slightly more. I got all the used TRE's for free so that was a big money saver.
