I drove HWY 58 from Barstow to Bakersfiled yesterday and it was really coming down. Saw 3 or 4 wrecks within 20 miles. You califorians don't know what to do when it snows. I thought all the road closures over a couple inches of snow was pretty funny!

yeah the average southern californian I agree. I love driving in the snow though, and it's fucking frustrating getting stuck behind people who don't know what they're doing. Entertaining at the same time though, and funny watching people drive around with chains/cables on when the road is completely dry, just because there is snow on the sides of the road or the road is wet:shaking:

it would be funny if it was'nt so inconvient, the highway patrol closed roads that were pretty clear, then they open them and people are sliding and crashing out all over, I drove by a flopped suv this morning, people stuck everywhere, go figure

Looked like fun for sure! But not me....I hate getting cold. Hmmmm, maybe that's why I live in the DESERT!
But give me a lift-ticket and my board...I'm all over it!

So I ended up going snowboarding yesterday, and on the 'way' home I went out to the lakebed to check it out. I wish I would have taken my camera, it was pretty surreal out there. I drove through a camp of a few different rockcrawlers on the west side of the lakebed, but they were all asleep. I could barely see 40 ft. in front of me though. Definitely wish I could have just camped out there all weekend instead of just driving around there at midnight, but glad I went and checked it out... I'd say there's 6-8 inches of snow on the ground?

Found these pics in the Rally thread from Thanksgiving 04. With the new storms for the 24 & 25th, I hope to see some white stuff on Saturday! :)

Went to JV on Saturday on 12/20. Got some video and did part of Clawhammer.

The snow was awesome, somewhere between 4 to 10 inches in some spots.

looks like fun, but probably need a lot of patience for those trails in the snow and a TJ on 35s. I think it would make for a long and cold day. Looks like fun though nice video

is there any snow left?

Not really... Just some patches at the higher elevations and on trails that see alot of shade. I was camping out there on Tues night. Was hoping for snow, but it was all damp dirt and mud. That mud on the lakebed is fucking STICKY.

Was there though on Sat night at about midnight just to check it out, and it was SURREAL. Complete snow coverage and about 60 ft. visibility. Barely knew where I was when I got out there on the lakebed. Rockin Rubi I'm pretty sure I drove through your camp at about midnight. I recognize that red Toy. You guys camped on the west side of the lakebed? Just remember seeing vehicles all of a sudden then realized I was in the middle of a camp - and that was going about 5-10 mph, visiblity was pretty low. You guys must have been a bunch of families or something, everyone was asleep already and no fire:flipoff2:
