Anything I should know about this vehicle?
I will probably be getting a 92 in the next few days and wanted a little info. While sirchen I saw they have 10 and 24 spline anybody know off hand what would be in a 92 range rover classic awd?
Also I understand it that this vehicle has a viscous coupler or whatever. So does this viscous coupler work like a having a open diff in the t-case or what? Do I need to ditch the awd case?
With the vehicle being awd will it hurt it to weld up the diffs? (the tires will stay close to stock, maybe a 31).

little more info
I plan on using the vehicle for lite wheeling nothing more then a 4.0 on the 5 scale= if that and I do have a two seater buggy for the hard stuff. The rig will be used for mild expeditions, exploring areas in BFE and some local family wheeling.

If stock, it will have 10-spline axle shafts.

DO NOT WELD the diffs, they won't handle it.

Classics make wonderful family wheeling rigs, just don't expect TOO much from it without some mods like 24-spline axles.

The B-W transfer case is plenty robust for what you've described, but most serious folks replace them with LT-230s.

Keep reading, you've got a lot to learn.

Oh yeah, welcome to the cult.

Well got it home. Still real undecided on what to do with it. I'll probably have to take it out wheeling once and see if I'm happy with it.
I see an axle swap in my future nothing super hard core but probable either a Toyota swap or d44+9" I know I wont be happy for long with open diffs.

thanks

Hello & welcome to the club!
You will get a ton of wheeling in on that RRC without lockers... it's the articulation that will make all the difference. I've seen unlocked RRC's go EVERYWHERE a fully lifted & locked RRC has gone in the same trail.

That being said, I'd LOVE some lockers (and 24 spline axles:)) But I'm saving up for the world famous leaking head/intake gasket!!! (damn you buick!)... and a Pinz :D
Another thing is that BW TC will be fine for all but the really hardcore stuff.

As for tires, I suggest 235/85's or 265/75's not too big & heavy that you start breaking things... but you will need to lift it a bit... which will ruin the soft flexible RR ride off road... but at least you will have big tires!:D

Have a blast, there are plenty of good aftermarket places for your Rover as well as many online resources.

Will Yota axles fit? If so - they'll take some big tires if you use Longfield chromoly axles (as strong as stock D60!)

Yup, welcome to the cult. :mr-t:

Here, read this website: http://www.rangerovers.net/ :D

Never mind that funny noise, it's just you wallet screaming rape. :shaking:

LSD's + up the spline count probably won't grenade the axles. That's what I was going to do, and stay with reasonable sized tires for an RRC. Then the cult sucked my brains out and I am hell bent on 35's (or bigger), lockers, toy axles, and an LT230 t-case.

I'm selling it if anyone is interested. $2000obo
Pretty good price IMO but it is a little scratched up inside and out. Check engine light comes and goes but it still runs good. 130k
AC works, all the windows work including moon,2in lift, new tires with roadside(idk how that works for a new owner)
Runs good daily driven, But my Nissan gets better MPG and needs a windshield suburban needs a new power steering pump etc and I need to sell one of them. Might take the right trade just depends on the offer.
Figured I'd post it here for a few days in case somebody wanted/needed it before I post it in for sell forum
Thanks

Drop a zero off the end of that and you might be able to get rid of it.
