So I happened to click on craigslist a couple days ago and saw a miller synchrowave 180 sd on there for $1000 so I went and looked at it. Its only about 1 1/2 years old with very little use. It is on a homemade cart and came with an owner 275cfm bottle that is nearly full. I didn't get any extra comsumables with it at all. The local welding shop where I bought it backed up the guys claims on purchase date and use.

So how did I do?

I was looking at buying a dynasty 200 dx, which I might still do, but with this one to work with for a while, I might save longer and see if I can buy the 350 dx or see if the rumors of a dynasty 250 pan out.

I laid a couple beads with it before I bought it and again last night and it works very well. The PO threw it quite a bit if steel to practice with so its time to get out there.

Good deal, not a steal, but a solid deal especially with the tank and some steel. The Sync. 180 is a little bit older machine, but the smoothest tig I've ever used was a Korean war era Esab, so I wouldn't worry about age as long as it's functional sound. The only downside is that they're fairy power-hungry, I was using one at a buddy's shop to do some .375 wall aluminum sub-frames for his M3 and blew his 50amp breaker quite a few times. When he upgraded I almost bought his for my house, but I only get 100amp service so I bit the bullet and went with a T/A185 instead. His had hundreds of hours on it, and the guy who bought it uses it constantly, it's beat up and looks like shit now, but it still welds great.
