need some one to go shooting with.

im tired of paying a ridiculous amount of money to shoot at cherry creek only to shoot 100 yards. i want to get some real range in 300+

i know there are some nice long ranges around co, but i think they all require a years membership to shoot and im only going to be out here for one more month then im headed home :( i think some places will let a member sponsor a friend on the range

let me know, i need to get out of this house and shoot.

im shooting a .308 tac remington 700 w/ bushnell 4200 6-24x

We have an xmas thing sat day.
Then I am busy packing boxes Sunday.
Next weekend I can make a free day.
I still haven't shot the M14 I am building and would love to find a longer range.

Maybe Scott would bring out his billet ar10 :D

I have no range membership, all I can do is pay-to-play at Cherry Creek or go out to the Grassland or the NF. I also have family in town (supposedly arriving this afternoon) but it could be fun to "introduce" my formerly-Cali-Bay-Area-dwelling Dad to Colorado living... :evil:

There was a range next to the landfill on Rt 6 on the way into Keystone. If you go through Dillon, it will be on your left, or take the scenic route over Loveland Pass and it will be right after you pass Keystone on the right. I havn't lived in Denver in 5 years, but I used to head up there to shoot and then fish or ski.

have you tried dragon mans down here in the springs? i know its a long drive, but they have a 220 yard range with no caliber restriction. there open 9:30-4:30 tuesday -sunday, and its $10 to shoot all day. i dont have any rifles, but do have a pistol or two. i could meet you out there, maybe even bring some others. theres also rampart range, you just shoot of the side of a hill. its nothing fancy, but you can shoot as far as your bullets will fly, and its FREE!

its not to bad of a drive since im in parker

can you hook me up with a map of where these places are? or if your serious about it ill me up with you in the springs and we can head down there

unfortunately its where i would like to go haha, 220 isn't to bad i have not shot over 100 yards so far. put maybe 150 rounds through the rifle. with quality ammunition im well with in .75 MOA average (5 shot groups) and have a couple groups under .5 @100 yards (3 shot groups.... i know :shaking: but federal match is $2 a round at cherry creak and i wanted to get as may groups as i could out of it) most of the time im shooting cheap walmart winchester hunting rounds.

and i like that free part thats nice, if i got to the creek its like $8 to get on the park then 15 to shoot and you have to wait for a seat. on top of that you have rifles going off 12" from your head on both sides. i like the relaxing zen like part of shooting i would rather be out in the middle of bfe with a couple of people i know making every round count you know.

Dragonman is a fucking asshole, I refuse to ever go out there again. I went out one time and when I was talking to him it was like I was just annoying him.


If you want to go tomorrow send me a PM. I've got a new 10/22 and 9mm compact I want to go try out and was planning on heading out tomorrow anyways. I know a place up by Woodland Park in the NF where we MIGHT run into 2 or 3 other people. It's just a little further drive then up to Rampart but the roads are nicer and there's not a thousand idiots out there running around.

the roommate thing is sensitive, since im in a cooperate house and at a western states school. if i where to do anything physical to him i would likely be fired, but since he works at gurno which is owned by the same parent company as we are (api group) but not western states our bosses have no authority over him and all they can do is kick him out of the class and send him home. the situation has since been resolved and he no longer looks at me or says anything

which is fine with me since if it where to escalate and he hit me i would not be thinking and i would kick his little ass, then the only other person in the house who is his friend would tell our bosses i swung first, poof no more job. no one gets to punk me but sometimes you have to be political about it

I would not recommend physical violence toward an armed person. It will likely not end well. A step to the side is sufficient along with a verbal to the guy to watch his muzzle. If there was any arrogance about it I would be out of there. I hope that your quick decision to violence is just talk.

It is likely that the guy had very bad muzzle discipline. I'd be out of there as quick as possible, especially since there are no range rules to determine what his discipline should be. I would not commit violence against him unless I thought that he intended to harm me. For me to stay in that situation would be stupid. My neighbor (former Marine) had a party and there were about 7 of us around the fire. The talk turned to guns, and he went in to get his Glock. I was uncomfortable with his handling of the gun, but he had not yet flashed anyone. Then he offered the loaded gun to our other neighbor. I jumped up and asked to see it. I dropped the mag and cleared the gun and left the slide open. We had all been drinking and I told him that I would not be comfortable with a loaded gun being handed around the fire. He said he was cool with that, and I held onto the mag dropped the slide, pulled the trigger while the gun was in a safe direction and handed the gun to the other neighbor. The mag stayed in my pocket until he went to take the gun back into the house. Had it played out any other way I would have probably just gone home.

i need to get back home, this house is making me an angry person. i really dont have any means to let out my aggression. shooting today helped alot

had a good time with axle, it was just us at the range. he brought a nice selection of guns to play with, even got to shoot some clay birds it was my first time doing that. only bad thing was the temp... well below 32 but the sun was out so it was not to bad. decided to take a different route home, took me twice as long :D

I appreciate you saying that. It puts you back in to the realm of being "human". I understand that people say things that they don't mean. But, I take firearms and shooting very seriously. I would want to know that you are cool headed and collected before I would want to shoot with you. Get your mind right, and don't let the house get to you. Others do not affect who you are.
