: Need some help with body styles
Eric M. 12-19-2008, 06:49 PM I've got a buddy with a 2005 (sorry, original post read 1995) F350, 2wd, single rear wheel, long bed. His bed is trashed and he needs a new one.
What range of years match his body style?
Any other quirks I need to look out for when trying to locate a new bed for him?
Thanks,
Eric M.

Eric M. 12-19-2008, 07:11 PM That was fast, thank you.
Can anyone else confirm that?

peterhop 12-19-2008, 07:27 PM 1980 to 96 is the same box style pre '87 youll have to change taillights to the '95 style if that kinda thing bothers you

wrong noob, the 80-86 is diffrent. Check the fender flares. But, 87-96 is the same. I have an 87 bed on my 89 cab, with a 96 front clip. Cant tell. Like it was said, the tail lights are diffrent, but barely. The backup lights on the earlier trucks had an entire white line, then the rest is red.
The newer tails have a red tail lamp, with a little white square for the back up lights. If you have two matching tails, you'll never know.
The 80-86 bed:

and the 87-96/97HD beds:

svt150j49 12-19-2008, 07:42 PM And the tails:
Early tails:

Newer:

And yes, the 80-96 will BOLT up, but the 80-86 has diffrent flares.
Eric M. 12-19-2008, 07:42 PM OK, so the body lines and flares match up from 87 to 96. The tail lights are a bit different from early to late models.
I don't think slightly different tail lights will matter. I'll try and track down an 87 to 96 bed.
Thanks,
Eric M.
Eric M. 12-19-2008, 07:44 PM Hmmm,
Got any pictures comparing the 80 to 86 beds to the 87 to 96?
I'm wondering how different the flares look.
Thanks,
Eric M.
If this is a beater truck, an '80-86 bed will also bolt on fine. You'll just have the different fender "flare" style. I've got an '80 or '81 bed on my '96 F350. IIRC I used the bed mount bolts from an '86 Ranger; might be useful if you're having a hard time finding good hardware.
svt150j49 12-19-2008, 07:46 PM i updated my posts.
Eric M. 12-19-2008, 07:51 PM Thanks,
I see the difference. I also noticed I need to make sure I've got the correct number of gas doors.
This is a work truck that he wants to fix up (can't look like a beater when meeting clients). From the pics., I'm thinking he'll want to stick with the flares of the 87 to 96 ... unless he can't find one. Plus, he's got a better chance of the newer bed being in better condition.
Thanks for the pics, they help.

you are a tard. on a nice truck, it looks like ass. go back to your corner. As i said, they bolt up. But you might as well look a little harder and not half ass it. I got my bed for 90 bucks.
Eric M. 12-22-2008, 08:28 AM Oh crap,
A little misunderstanding here, it's a 2005 truck. Let's start all over again.
Sorry,
Eric M.
1sicbronconut 12-22-2008, 09:47 AM 1999-2007 if you don't mind driving we have at least 10 take off beds in our storage area from oil field trucks, these are brand new. If you are intrested I can get you a price from our parts guys. I think we have white and gold beds right now they are all long beds.
Eric M. 12-22-2008, 10:14 AM Thanks,
I would be interested, but I'm in Oakland CA, 94605. Can you guys ship something like that without it costing a fortune or getting destroyed in transit!?
