: Drivetrain location-TJ

I am getting the tranny and Atlas back in my TJ after swapping to an auto. The Jeep has been sitting for a while with just the motor in it. Once I got the rest of the drivetrain back in I noticed that the output of the t-case was offset to the pass. side by nearly 2".

Does anyone know if TJ's stock came with the drivetrain offset?

I'm not at the Jeep now so I can't see if the harmonic balancer is square to the chassis or not. I will check when I get home. Just want to get this thing set before a fab up a new crossmember.

Thanks

I belive it is offset to the passenger side, I ran into this problem when I built a flat skid. I measured about thrity times and then relized it was correct. Do you have the stock skid plate, that will allow you to measure the offset.

I don't think I have anything left that is even remotely stock at this point. I'm checking this morning to see if the balancer is square with the drivetrain centered.

When I look at it from directly under the t-case it looks like it use to with the output centered in the tunnel. I have the 60 up front centered in the chassis right now at full bump. I will see how the front d-shaft lines up with the drivetrain centered. I know I am going to have to cut the floor again since the auto is 2" shorter than the NV3550 that was in there. The front out put is right under my legs. I have the everything tucked up under the body with nothing hanging below the frame. I cut a good amount out from the tub since I only have a 1" BL.

Thanks for the help
Time to get cold in the garage.:D

Cossmember done! Just needs some gussets and I can slap it in.

Then onto setting the 70 back up in the rear!

Cough, cough....I think I got sick this weekend and can't make it in to work......
