: CJ Grill protection roll bar help?

I just saw a picture about a month ago of a tube that was bent in the shape of a CJ grill to protect the radiator. I did a search and came up empty. Someone on here sold a roll bar for a grill that they made. Does anyone have a picture of that on file or link, or a phone number?

I’m doing all the measurements for my roll bar, so I thought I’d look into this while we were welding and bending.

Thanks

That looks familiar, oh yeah it's mine. I don't have it on yet since an engine swap is in the near future, and pondering what else to add on to it at that time.
And yes, Scott knows that's a bit too much bend at the bottom legs and they should be parallel, so don't worry about that. We were working with the grill and no frame measurements.

when yall do the front hoops like that, do you make them removable, or permanently weld to the frame? to the frame would be easier and stronger, but does it ever become an issue when removing the engine?

Rockstomper's is welded to the frame. If you want it to unbolt make something that unbolts

I was thinking the same thing.
I found that my winch and the small bar I have protecting it got in the way, when I dropped the motor in, but I also had the T-18 and D300 all bolted on too. :D

I will weld bolt-on brackets to that bar. So it will be a mini cage around the winch that will protect the radiator. It will be one big bolt-on bumper.

I wish I could bolt that to the cage, but that would be a pain for working on the motor.

With it welded to the frame you can still pull the motor it's just something you have to work around.

I was asking about front hoops in general, not the rockstomper one. I can see that the legs would need to be welded to something. What I meant to ask is do most people that already have these go to the frame or to something removable like angle iron or a winch plate

To answer your question.:D

For the most part I think people just weld them to the frame.

You could make it bolt on if you want. The legs are extra long so you cut them to your needs. So, you could weld some angle on and bolt the angle to the frame w/ 4 bolts apiece...in fact I just might do that. I can't keep a motor in the bay for very long.

Anyone know what rockstompers is made of.. ie tube diameter and wall thickness? I may be ordering one this winter, if I don't get silly and order a bender.:D
