i just bought a 14ff and it came without the pinion pilot bearing. i bought a new one and was gonna install it when i realized that part of the old one is still in the seat. i tried to get it out with a hammer and a screwdriver, but it wasnt working and i started to get worried that i might mess it up, so i stopped. anyone ever had to do this? im wondering if i should take the carrier out to make it easier to get at, since im planning on making an orb of traction anyways, it'd prolly be the best idea, but im still not sure how to get the rest of the bearing out. any help would be awesome.
thanks

Gotta ask this---sure you pounding it out in the correct direction?

yep, go in at it from the cover side, knocking it toward the pinion opening.

dont use a screw driver. Get something (like a socket or piece of tube) that is the same OD as the ID of the bearing housing-and pound the shit out of it with a big ass hammer. May want to shoot some PB blaster on it first and let it loosen up a little as well

i figured that it went in threw the pinion opening, and was trying to remove it from the cover area. the previous owner did a great job of destroying the bearing and only the outer edge. there just isnt anything left to get to get a grip on.

is there a lip that keeps the bearing from going out the cover side?

that sounds like good advice. i had to stop cuz when i get frustrated i tend to tear shit up. i really dont want to fuck this up, ive been wanting a 14ff too long to screw up now
