I don't know about anyone else's reasons, but mine were simple:

1) Suzukis are WAY cheaper to build than Jeeps (you can still spend mad cash on a Zuk, but it just seems to get you further)

2) I've already built a heavy rig, now I want to try my hand at a light one

3) Girlfriend says that the Jeep is already big enough (she won't be able to get in it if it's any bigger), so I'll let her buy it off of me and I'll build a Zuk for 1/10 the money that I've put into it.

4) It would be a real shame to roll a vehicle that I've spent over $15000 on, but a $300 Zuk that I'll sink another $1000 into to make it off-road worthy will not be such a shame to roll.....
