I just swapped the YJ for a CJ with a TBI injected 350 that some numbskull put in front of a T5 :nuke: :nuke: I am installing a full size axle (i have already) using the avalanche hanger kit, and its a driverside drop. I want to run a 700r4, what version (year, application) should I look for to build. I also would like to use the NP208 I have (should be an Atlas, but Id have to find it for like 1600 bucks including a shifter, budget!!!) which is a FSJ NP208, driverside drop, fixed yoke, 23 spline input. I would either have to find/get a new mainshaft to match, or can a 27 spline input from a chevy 208 be swapped in??? What adapter from the factory(read=junkyard=cheap) is shortest, and will work???? ANY input on this situation will help!!!!!!!!!
Find a 90-91 4x4 suburban it would have the newer model 700r4 and 208. I think 93 was the last year for 700r4s. The early model had problems
Atleast this is what I found in my research when I thought I wanted to go auto.

88 plus and look for one that will bolt right up, the adapter cost to much and only leaves you with a 12 inch shaft with stock wheelbase

is this going to be a trail rig or a street rig? if it is a trail rig i would just get a th350. they are shorter and cheaper. just my op.

I know the TH350 would be cheaper and easier, but I have to drive to the trails (no tow rig), and the drive to Oklahoma will suck with no OD. The 700 has a lower first gear anyway. I was gonna use a NV4500, but Lance talked me out of it (even though I found a NEW one with the 23 spline output and a Chevy bellhousing for 1400 with slave cylinder and clutch fork) due to the auto working better on the trail, and the shock loads that can be transmitted to my "little D44" and those u-joints. Gonna swap the shafts out for alloys, and install CTMs, but I stilll need it to last, epecially if I am gonna drive it HOME back from the trail.

if you will drive it then yes you will probably want the od. you will love the auto off-road. once you get the warn shafts and ctm's for your front it will be all you'll need. good luck.
