I was driving today about 70 mph and my truck quit for about 3 seconds.Started running again with check engine light on,but running fine.I got to the off ramp, stopped ,then took off then every time it reached exactly 2000 rpm it would start buck jumping.I stopped at walmart for about 15 minutes and started home and it run fine.Im thinking the pickup coil is going out because it done this before(kinda)and it fixed it.Last time it would only idle. The tps wouldnt shut it done would it?But it would explain the 2000rpm thing.I dont know that it died but it lost all power.Any suggestions,I wonder if the timing isnt advancing at 2000 rpms, its running fine now so its hard to find whats wrong

You're in the Formula Toyota forum.
Some of these highly modified vehicles still have check engine lights. Most don't.

Look in the FAQ on the main Toyota Truck and 4Runner forum. There, you will find instructions on wiring in a small jumper wire in the main relay block on the passenger side inner fender. You count the flashes of the CEL and you will know what part of the rig is signaling the computer to turn on the CEL.

Then, look up the code in the Factory Service Manual (there is one available for download with a $10 donation to the Rubicon Trail Foundation) and you can usually do the diagnosis on the offending part or sensor with a handheld ohmmeter.

Good luck!
