I'm regearing an F150. Rear is done, and I'm gonna start the front Friday. Is there a way to get the front diff out without completely dismantling the frontend? It's the first year for the 8.8 IFS.

ever install a lift kit on a truck like that? Pretty similar for the front minus one or two things if I remember right, it's been about a year since I did my last 150

That front end is very esay to remove, I pull them out in less than 1/2 hour on a rack. Pull all the bolts that hold the axles to the diff, 12 total. Pull the 4 that hold the driveline on. There are 3 bolts that hold the diff in place pull those and the vent and vacuum hoes and it out it comes. I pull these out to repair the fork that engages the right front axle, the nylon on the forks tend to break quite often.

That's good to hear bronconut. Looking at it, I had hoped that would be the case, but wasn't sure if I could drop the diff through the crossmember. Is there anything special about the vacuum lines? I saw they're threaded into the diff correct? Do I unthread them from the diff to remove them or is there a better connection elsewhere on the lines?

I dunno wtf I was smoking when I posted that about the vacuum lines. You were right bronconut, unbolted the shafts, the 3 mounts, took off vacuum and vent lines, and it came right out. Took me a little longer than a half hour but I got it done. You wouldn't happen to know the torque specs on the shaft bolts would you?
