The guy is asking 500 bucks, 50 ton capacity. Old school presses like this don't seem to show up around here very often. I have no interest in buying a bottle jack type of press no matter how much cheaper it would be. Its not like my pants are on fire to buy a press, but if that price is in reason I may take a long look at it. I would be building/buying attachments for it to bend metal etc. Do any of you guys have a press this size and wish you had more power? What do you guys think of the price?

I've got a 35T that looks real similar, except the 'ram' is flush with the top piece, so it has a larger throw in the same height frame. Paid ~$300 after looking long and hard.
Haven't needed a bigger one yet, but that's definitely a good deal.
Is there a winch to adjust bed height? Maybe in the upper left in the pics? I can't quite make it out.

Seems a nice solid press from the pics:flipoff2:
If you were in need of one bad you would jump all over it.
If you have the extra room I say go for it.
If you have put it through some tests of your own to make sure it works like it should.

I can't tell if that is a winch or something sitting on the shelf, but a winch for the table would make it a lot more attractive. I hate asking too many questions over the phone so Ill take a ride over that way over the weekend for a look see.

You can barely see it through all the crap but its back there. It is one of the most used tools in the garage to be honest. There is a chain "hoist" that allows you to rase and lower the bottom deck but I have never used it. There has to be 2ft of shaft that I can screw up and down. The lower deck height is nice when you have to lift heavy crap up there.
It is very rare that the press cant get the job done on its own but it does happen. The last thing I used it for was to get some rusted in ujoints out of a my Superduty front axle. I only took the clips off of one side cause it much easier to handle just the outer. Well I was messing around to get it in better psotion and I flipped the ujoint over. I was using about 70 tons of that 50 ton press and it fawkin goes BOOM...pop! Blew right thru the clips and I learned a lesson. If its not going after a couple pumps take time to check it out...
A great addition to any garage.

Ramco is the successor name to Carolina Tools--made in China, but not total crap.
That "50 ton" press is more like a 35 ton press in reality.
I would pass on it and keep looking. Given the current economy, especially in your area, a good deal on a name brand press will show itself soon.
Remember, a shop press can be the most dangerous piece of equipment in the shop--ever see something come apart with 50 tons of pressure on it 12 inches away from your chest, arm, face, etc.....?

Thanks, I talked to the guy and it doesn't have the lift winch. I think Ill pass. Ive lived without one this long, I can wait until the right made in USA one comes along.

Does it have a two speed pump, it's hard to tell from the pics?
We have a unit very similar to it at work that has a manual hand pump with two speed valving ... it moves fast till it generates 2ton then switches it's self over to low volume/high pressure.
It can also be physically set one way or the other buy turning a small valve on the side of the pump...high volume/low pressure or reverse.. whatever fits your needs.
It looks like a stout unit and I wouldn't hesitate to offer the guy $400 or so.
the ram looks small for a 50ton, isnt 50 ton a 6" ram?
