well my 4l60e is slipping in my 96 k1500 5.7 engine friend of mine gave me one out of his 96 2wd 5.7 can i swamp the input shaft and tailshaft out and convert it to 4wd if not will a tranny from 95 k1500 work ??

Input shaft should be the same, tailshaft and adapter can be swapped out.

well i was told the 2wd case was weaker or something is that true???

x2 on the tail shaft, but if your going to tear into it you can upgrade a few things like a corvette servo and stuff to get a little better life out of it.

I don't know if the cases are weaker or not. I would definitely use the 4wd inspection cover, and the braces to the engine. I'll have to go out and compare my cases...

well i was gonna go ahead and go through it with new torque convertor and monster in a box rebuild kit which comes with beast sunshell and few other goods from eatmyshift.com

you will have to go through the tranny and change the output shaft not the input. the tailhousing will also have to be changed. put the extra effort and put the vette servo and shift kit. if this is a good friend that you can take his word roll with it. if not change the converter and flush the cooling system for the tranny.
