ok how do you measure your RTI

There are 2 versions that are told for distance travelled - measure from the centre of the ramped wheel straight to the ground or from the centre of the wheel to the start of the ramp.

Which one is the most common or correct

Who cares as it only matter how a rig go on the trail not on a ramp, I even provide that at TTC. I was one of the lowest scoring rigs on the ramp but was one of the best on the courses.

yeh i know that the ramp means jack but i just want to know as there is 2 different opinions and either way it makes a big difference to your bragging rights.
I'm building a adjustable ramp 20-30 degrees and everone has there own opinion.

Since the vehicle wheel base is used as part of the calculation, I'd think you'd use from the center of the wheel (measured at 90 degrees to the ramp, not vertically) to the end of the ramp. Just my .02

I thought someone would have to know - or have i bored everyone with my thread

measure from the centre of your wheel to the start of the ramp..........
ex.
-my samis w/b is 79.9"
-on a 20* ramp
-say i go up 42" from the centre of my wheel to the start of the ramp
-so here is how to calculate it.......
-42"(distance up the ramp) devided by 79.9(or your w/b) times 1000 and thats your score

-42/79.9x1000=525.7...........my score is 525.7

This is correct, but the problem is comparing your measurments to ones taken on a different ramp. Measuring from the point on the ramp verticaly to the ground and plugging it into a simple Trig formula (which I can't remember at the moment) will let you accurately compare the RTI score from any ramp to one taken on a standard 20* ramp. or any angle you want.

And FWIW, RAMPING IS NOT USELESS. It is an excellent tool for finding out problems with any mods you have made. You can see what may be binding, or if brake lines are long enough, etc. Much easier with a ramp than while on the trail. I agree that a high RTI score should not be your goal, you can make a pretty dangerous trail rig if all your mods are designed just for ramping.

Its not a board! Its one of a set of aluminiun ramps I made to get my ATV into my trailer. I wanted to test there strength.

This one, it is the contact point of your tire to the ramp. :D

the RTI ramp is one of the best tools that i have made.
