: Benelli Nova vs Supernova
plk457 12-31-2008, 06:37 AM Any thoughts on either one? Anyone have one? I am trying to decide if the anti recoil system that comes with the Supernova is worth teh price difference (about $100). I have shot a Nova but not the Supernova. I can't seem to find many more differences aside from the recoil, am I missing something? Thanks for the help.
bigdreamin 12-31-2008, 07:26 AM I wouldn't think so. You have shot a semi auto shot gun right? There's barely any kick to begin with.
plk457 12-31-2008, 07:32 AM I have shot a semi auto shotgun before, however the two guns in question are pumps. I wouldn't worry about the recoil at all on a semi gun, but I don't have much experiance shooting a pump gun with any frequency. The benelli will get shot quite a bit for 5 months out of the year. There is also a gadget factor with the Comfortech system.
gunsablazin 12-31-2008, 08:27 AM imho the supernova is worth the extra c-note especially if you are shooting alot. I do not regret spending the extra dollars for mine, money well spent.
afroman006 12-31-2008, 09:51 AM I have a supernova and it gets a great big "meh." Decently built action but the forend is loose as hell, to the point that it annoys me. In addition, new barrels cost almost as much as an entire shotgun so that reduces the versatility of it. An 870 is a better buy IMO.
plk457 12-31-2008, 10:06 AM what length barrel do you have on it now? All of them that I have been seeing around here are coming with a 28". I would prefer something a little shorter.

+1 on the Remington guns for what you'd spend on the benelli you could have a 1187 semi auto remy.
As far as recoil goes suck it pussy. :flipoff2: I have burned through a few bricks of shells trap shooting with an o/u that kicks like a mule and I wasn't sore. Seriously, learn the right way to hold a shot gun and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the wonderful advice. I am not interested in a semi auto, in fact I just sold one to fund this gun. I am interested in a pump gun, that's why I asked about the two benellis.
I shoot trap with my o/u and have no recoil problems. Thanks. :flipoff2:
I am going to purchase a Benelli pump gun and am only interested in the two previously mentioned and any experiance with them.
mjs408 12-31-2008, 02:11 PM Ive shot both guns side by side with turkey load when the first came out so I could give customers an honest opinion on it. I didnt think it made that much differance in the pumps or semi guns when they had comfort-tech compared to when they didnt. Also when it comes to the nova fore end noise, you can tight up the allen screws to help a little, but dont go to far, you can crack the stock.

The forearms rattle. I think there are better options in a pump gun.

OR
Get a gun that fits you and it won't "kick like a mule."
that said, I have a nova and love the thing. I bought it for my wife but I use it for duck hunting. the stock recoil pad blows so I epoxied a peice of uhmw in the end of the stock and put a limbsaver grind to fit pad on it. that's about all it needed out of the box. also thinking about a mag extender to use it for 3gun stuff. overall a great value at $325.

You have good/expensive taste :grinpimp: !
I love my M1 Super 90.
When I bought mine in '92 (Pre-Ban), they were going for $765.
NOW; They're listed for $1699 :eek: :eek: !!

There is a "tacticool" version with a pistol grip new locally and I like it, but I think I'd rather buy another saiga, convert it and run it. The beni is a pimp gun though factory :evil:

why would you use a sabot in a smoothbore cyl choked defense gun?
smooth=fosters style
rifled=sabot

Because I can :flipoff2: !
SCOTTS_4X 01-01-2009, 02:52 PM Because I can't tell the difference :flipoff2: !.
dukguy 01-01-2009, 05:22 PM I had a Nova and it would occasionally malfunction so I got rid of it. I would buy an 870 if you want a pump gun.
