Anyone use one of these? Opinions? I have a regular cheapie ($50) red dot I just put on the AR but I was thinking about trying one of these out and maybe putting the other sight on my 10/22. Good plan?

I would rather have something nicer but thats not really in the cards right now.

That built in mount looks a bit low for use on an AR. Ideally, you would want the center of the scope 1.41" above the rail on the reciever. 2x is kind of a bastard child when it comes to magnification, the whole draw of a red dot scope is its lack of paralax which is unavoidable with magnification. Not saying you won't be able to use a both eyes open shooting style, but at such a low magnification, it won't really be helping you much. Personally, I'd pass on it for a regular 1x red dot, or save more and get a variable 1-4x scope.

I've got a vortex red dot, which comes with an add on 2x magnifier, which is nice when shooting at paper on the range, but its nice that it is removable. A red dot should really be at 1x for its ultimate purpose which is shooting close up and fast.

2x does not really make much sense. I would rather have a red dot with no magnification. There is not that much benefit to a 2x versus no magnifiaction.

well, old threads is what happens when you search for answers! :flipoff2:

Whats your guys opion on a 3x magnifier on a flip mount with a red dot VS a 1-4 or fixed 4 power scope? Given the same money which do you think would be best?

For me shooting at anything beyond 50yds is gonna need magnification to be minute of paper plate so...., but I love the red dot for speed and both eyes open. NOTE: I HAVE NEVER USED A RED DOT OR A FIXED 4X SCOPE (ACOG CLONE) Just 3-9x40 on hunting rifles. This will go on my 14.5" AR 300yds is most I would ever want to achieve minute of paper plate.

How much money do you want to spend? I really like my Trijicon TR24 which is 1-4 power with a 30mm tube, and it has awsome eye relief. Some folks on here like the millet DMS-1, which I belive is about 1/2 or 1/3 the cost of a TR24, but is also 1-4 power.

I have an EO tech sight with a X-3 magnifier on my AR and it works well.

I was looking at a primary arms m3 with 3x magnifier in a flip mount, or a ncstar mark iii from james firearms.

I like being able to flip the mag out of the way if I don't want to use it or just pull it off completely. The magnifier/red dot combo is more versatile than a fixed scope but also a little more cumbersome and heavy.

Only thing I dont like is the magnifier is right over the charging handle so you have to kinda grab it from the side.

For the $20 difference, any reason not to get the 5x? Shit , now the cheap optic is no so cheap :barf:. Maybe Ill just stay with the damn micro and high mount.

Thanks, I finally found docs thread yesterday. I couldn't find it because it is older than OSR .
