Tough as nails, when they run.
My wife has a 95 S-10 Blazer she uses as a daily driver. I hate the damn thing because it seems there is always something wrong with it. She loves the thing to death an I can talk here out of selling it for anything
Motors and drive tran are about as solid as you can get in a small P/U truck.
Tell him to check out http://www.s10-4x4.org for more info on these trucks. Though to be honest its not a "Hard Core" site, There a a few there that know how to "get it awn" and really know there shit.

Got one with 180000 miles on it. It has always run and only requires the usually maintance. The powertrain in that vehicle is pretty proven. May want to check the rearend for axle bearings if it is a high mileage truck. BTW, offroad ability is OK, but nothing to write home about in stock form.

Are you smokin crack? If it wasn't for that damned IFS, those trucks would rock!
If the truck has been pounded on, expect the 4.3 to last between 130,000 and 150,000 miles. If it has been taken care of, that motor may last forever.

Um...Scott I beleve that is what mnstr_fx was saying.
I could use the same thang and say if it weren't for my 4 banger the Jeep would be fast! Got to work with what you got.

The one in the wifes blazer had to be replaced at 80K miles. A LOT less the 130,000. But then agan we did buy it used at 75K miles so no telling what the poeple who owned it before us did to it. From the way the damn thing breaks ever other week I would have to say upkeep wasn't high on there list of things to do. There ok trucks but just from what this one has put me though, I will never buy another Chevy anytime soon.

my buddy has owned it since new, currently has 275,000 miles on his 91. engine is all stock, only minor stuff fixed, the tranny had about 20k miles left on it, so he had it rebuilt, nothing special, but 270,000 for a 700r4 is great. rear end was just replaced, and the front axle rebuilt, along with new shocks. HE got it done and took it out to hollister, did pretty damn good. I dont think he will ever sell it, and if he did, i woudl buy it.
Expect to replace the idler arm every year and the balljoints every two. The front diff is weak too. On the upside, good motor and trans. DMG

Swap in the axles out of a first generation Bronco. 44 front and 9" rear.
