It is a project I am working on, but so far I have not been able to make a bracket that I am happy with the quality on.

If I can get Paypal to work with me. I set up a Paypal account years ago and I forgot. LOL... I am in need of a disc brake full kit for a rear D60 out of a Ford from llike 77.5-79 F250. Full float model. I would like no parking brake calipers and and a price on rubber brake hoses and braided stainless steel ones.

Thanks...

BTW I priced out everything whoring parts out all over the sun and I might be able to save a whopping 15 bucks minus the bolts and what not. You are doing us all a favor here offering this set up at a great price. This must be a labor of love for you.

Just need the bottom half of you parts list:
rebuilt GM calipers with steel pistons
semi metallic brake pads
new inner hub seals
caliper pins
rubber flex hoses
banjo bolts with copper washers

How much for that shipped to ?

I see that this is an old thread but I have a question.

I see no mention of residual pressure valves or a master cylinder change being required for 4 wheel disc brakes for your kit.

Is the kit somehow different from factory braking where the drum/disc brake master cylinder supplies pressure to the rear brakes first to overcome the return springs?

edit:
I may be asking something already answered,I just noticed that while thinking of my question I had only read the first page, after posting I see I am now on page 11,lots more reading to do!

GubNi
04-14-2011, 10:52 AM
With my kit there is no need to change your factory mastercylinder. I'm not a super tech, so I can't explain why but I do drive a truck with this kit installed and it works really well. I have been told it is because the movement of the caliper by volume equals the movement of the shoes and wheel cylinder.

racer55

thankyou very much for the reply.
I am seriously considering your kit and will probably try and find a way to get it to Canada when funds permit.

I have another question,
Anyone in the rust belt using this system?

The factory rear discs are terrible for rusting and pulsating when the vehicle is not driven daily to dry them out.Especially in winter.

My truck is mainly for towing and sits much of the time and I would like to know how the rotors are standing up under those conditions.
I am glad to see you went with the good old reliable calipers that seldom if ever seize the sliders.

GubNi
04-14-2011, 06:36 PM
I haven't heard of that problem and mine isn't driven that much.

racer55
04-14-2011, 06:45 PM
Thanx again for the reply.

Here in Ontario salt is used heavily diring winter road de-icing and wreaks havoc with all the metal that is exposed.

Even daily drivers need caliper maintenace and lube at least twice a year to prevent seizing with the crappy sliders now being used.

I like the looks of your setup a lot and the price too,I just wanted to hear about conditions similar to mine before I buy.
thanx again.

Never heard that before either... With the exception of the parking brake function, how would a rear disc setup react any differently under those conditions than a front disc setup?

racer55
04-15-2011, 10:27 AM
Since the rear discs normally do only 30% or less braking they don't generate anywhere near as much heat as the front discs do to dry them out, that and the discs are made of very poor quality steel-they rust fast.

Do you have an option for cross drilled and slotted rotors?

Not at this time. I really don't feel they are needed on the rear axle and I debate about putting them on the front for a vehicle that will get mud. The problem is small rocks can get in the holes and groove the pads and then the pads will groove the rotors.

quote me a complete kit for a 72 k20 with an eaton rear end.

$315 shippped for the basic kit. Add $20 for stainless hoses and $200 for ebrake calipers if you want them.

$315 + $200 + $20 - $40 = $495 by paypal.com to gubni at comcast.net

This is probably answered in your original info/post so I'll apologize in advance.

Anyway, do you have a kit for an '01 Dodge 1/2 ton / 9.25 rear axle? I know you stated that your kits could be made to work on almost anything, but, with my lack of knowledge regarding this I wasn't sure.

This is an understaement when I say "I'm not familar with all the specs regarding each axle, year, make, or model".

Thanks

My problem is I was given this Dually rearend so I don't know what it came off of or the year model. I don't have a problem going to 17" reams to clear the brakes. I'll probably run close to 40" tires on this build.

Looking at the 6-lug 9.5" 14 bolt semi-float kit.

I'm assuming this is using 1/2 ton front rotors.
I've seen some kits where part of the pad is off the outter edge of the rotor, as if it the bracket is too long...which causes problems trying to fit 15" wheels.

My 1/2 ton front discs clear my wheels with about 5/16" clearance.
Will yours clear 15" alloy wheels?

Thanks!

I am ready to order but, I still can't find the DOM on the 60HD I have. It's mounted on a '92 Dodge Diesel. BUT It is NOT the original Dana 70 the truck came with. I bought it with the Dana 60 on the rear. I have looked for the DOM near the right spring pad and can not find anything. I believe it is an early Dodge account it has the 5/8-18 studs (just ran the 1" nut through the tap) and it is left hand threads on the left side and right hand threads on the right side. (typical early Dodge) I find the "60HD" inside a web on the left looking from the top. Any suggestions?

Simple - weld on kit, but you will have to drill out the rotor holes for the 5/8 studs.

Ok. I plan on converting the rear axles over to the 1/2-20 that the front axle has to keep them the same. IF I can find studs with shoulders big enough for the 5/8 holes. Is this feasable? Maybe convert the front to 5/8? Will I have trouble finding wheels for that big of studs & nuts? The bigger nuts do look kind of cool!

So we're talking $315-Kit, $200-e-brake, $20 stainless hoses = $535.00 delivered. Correct?

Just got a line on a Dana 70 for the old dodge. It would be a direct original replacement for the replacement that was installed on the '92 Dodge Diesel. Will the kit I ordered for the Dana 60 work on the 70? You recomended the weld on kit for the older HD60 I have on the truck now.

Everything is the same except the bracket. The tube on the Dana 70 may be a bigger diameter.

Do your caddy calipers come with the lever and spring?

This will be my first disk brake conversion on a FF, 1 ton axle (done plenty on SF axles). What modification does one have to do to the stock cables to hook up to the lever?

Yes they do.

If your stock cable works now, then it should work with this conversion. The only problem is if you have too much lift and it's not long enough.

For a 14b C&C, can you send the kit minus brackets and we can add brackets from another source? What would the price with the standard calipers be that way?

EDIT: I had old info from pg 1: Does your C&C brackets use spacers or is the bracket formed to fit without them?

Save $40 without brackets. I can send straight brackets that are weld on with no spacers or I can send bent ruffstuff brackets with no spacers.

Yep, that's the price. On ebrake calipers my partner does those and it takes him about a week to ship once the order is placed. Often it's quicker, but sometimes he takes his time on shipping.

I've got a 96 Burb FF with the slide off drums. Did I read in an earlier post that the rotor would need to go on the back side of the hub? The research I've done (lots of grey information here) says this is not safe as it was not machined true. Why can't the rotors mount to the front of the hub like the drums do now? Would this be possible with a weld on bracket? Head is spinning, I've been researching all night!

Thanks

4" is pretty extreme on backspacing. If they are steel rims it might work without grinding.

The Dana 70 kit is a weld on kit for $290. I need to know the axle tube diameter near the current backing plate rounded to the nearest 1/4". It should be 3" to 3.5" although there are a few bigger or smaller.

Im interested in your kit with the cady calipers and Steele lines. But first I would like to pick your brain a little about why so many people down talk to calipers, referring to them being a "pain in the ass" to bleed and adjust the e-brake. If you could give me a call at your soonest convenience I would appreciate it as I would like to finish up the build up of my 14 bolt(shaved 2", trussed, pinion guarded, and locked with 4.88's) I'm in Cali so please try not to call before 7 my time. Are your e-brake Eldorado calipers new or reburb? Does the e-brake cable need a bracket or does it attach directly to the caliper arm?
I have a 98 K2500 sub with a single rear wheel 14 bolt FF axle. I added 2" wide aluminum spacer between the drum and aluminum wheel. I replaced the OEM studs with ones from a dually to accommodate the spacer. Any problems with the dually studs?
Thx.

In general they are out of cores so have started making new ones. There's no way to tell when I order them if they will be new or refurb. Most are new.

The bracket is included with my kit.

I don't think there will be any problems with dually studs. At most you might have to drill the hole in the rotor a little bigger for them, but if they fit the drum they "should" fit the rotor.

Will the kit for the 14 bolt semi float 6 lug work on a 2wd axle? How much for it with the stainless lines an no brake pads shipped to 19952?

Yes it will. PM sent on details.

i am in need of your conversion kit for a a 1986 14 bolt FF, but I am not real hip with the whole paypal thing. Is there another way to make this happen?

Hey I have a semi float from an 80's van and need a kit for it! It is a 6 lug and has a bracket to flange distance of 5" with 31" shafts. Do you still use DOM spacers for that distance, or is it a solid spacer?? Total cost with stainless hoses shipped to 14226 please!
Thanks,
Matty

Most of my kits are bent brackets now.

To the best of my knowledge all semi float 14 bolt 6 lug axles are the same when it comes to brakes. That one does not need DOM spacers. My price includes shipping

semi float kit is $340 plus $20 for stainless for a total of $360
