I have a sig revolution target, and I love it, my only problem is I am left handed and I want an ambidextrous thumb safety. After shooting the gun at the range earlier today I had the gunsmith at the range Quote me 35$ an hour for labor, for two hours, and 55$ for the ambi safety. It sounded reasonable enough. Just kinda wondering out loud if thats the going rate.
The guy does seem to do a fair amount of business with 1911's.

If you looked it up online, you could probably do it yourself. Our armorer has changed several. If I remeber right its not very tricky. Why not just chang your stock one to a lefty?

If your not comfortable with DIY, that is a reasonable labor rate. I'm not sure it would take 2 hours though...

nt much of a smith if it takes him two hours to install an ambi saftey on a 1911, especially if he does a "fair amount" of work on them.

Thanks for the input. Its not so much that I don't want to do it myself, I just don't want to fuck it up like I usually do, the first time I do anything:shaking:
He told me he would have to modify the grip on the right side a little bit and I didn't want to mess up the wood. I think I might take it apart myself if you guys don't thinks its too difficult, I was just thinkin it would be easier to have someone who knows what they're doing work on it.
Thanks again.

I charge 75hr.
2hrs is ok, I would think 1.5 reasonable for a 1911 safety.

You could get ambi cut grips and just swap your others out if you do not want to mod them.
