I have 2 quick questions on the A440F auto in my FJ62, hoping someone here knows the answers. Yeah, I did the search.

* Which of the 2 lines that run up to the fluid cooler in the radiator is the supply, and which is the return? I want to add an aux cooler on the return line, but don't know which is which. I have everything drained now for various other projects, so I can't pull one off and do a test to tell.

* Does anybody know where the sender for the "Trans Temp" warning light is located? I've had the tranny down, it's not on the tranny anywhere. Nor on the radiator, or the cooler lines. So, where the heck is it? The wiring diagram in the FSM shows a special sender, but no clue where it is. I want to add a tranny fluid temp gauge, thought I'd use the same port.

Thanks...

the trans temp sensor should be in the trans, on the valve body; that's where they are on most other trannies i know of.
tried to look up which line is the return, no luck. you're just gonna have to fire it up and check. normally the top line in the rad is the sender, the bottom the return.:)

Well, I can look again, but there are no wires coming off the tranny that I couldn't trace to something else: N switch, R switch, 4WD, Low range, transfer N switch, etc. Hmmm....

The cooler lines are both on the bottom, neither is above the other.

Well, it was certainly appreciated. BTW, I figured both of them out. According to my Toyota EPC CD, the passenger side connection on the radiator is the "Cooler Outlet", so this is the return line to the tranny. And I found the sensor, it's on the passenger side of the tranny, right next to one of the cooler line fittings. I thought it was the Reverse switch. D'oh! :rasta:

Now I just gotta figure out which Tru Cool model to get, and how to connect it up. Thanks.
