I have a 74 chevy 2 wheel drive and the wiring harness was cut but I thought nothing of it. I want to turn it into a 2 wheel drive prerunner, I figured free wasnt bad. so what I am trying to do now that I have my motor and tranny in I want to rewire the truck race style. I have a toggle for power and a push button all I need is a diagram on what goes where from altenator to starter etc. I am going to rewire my headlights and such so any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys. BTW this is a budget build so please no posts saying buy another harness I am a broke dick right now.

Goto library... spend $1-$2 on xeroxing a copy of a Hayes manual. Wire truck:homer:
Only one off the top of my head that I can help you with is starter. Usually a purple wire that goes to the ignition switch. In your case, wire goes from starter to toggle switch. Other side of toggle switch would be hot in run wire(or leave it hot all the time.. your choice)
Too many choices of alternators to help you out there:(

well if your going to prerun it you could just completely remove all the wiring in the cab and the hvac box and all that other crap and run a wire from the battery to a switch to the hot side of the coil and a wire from the battery to a momentary switch to the soloniod, just be sure to leave the wiring for the charging system.
This is assuming (i know) that you have no need for turnsignals or tail lights, other wise you would pretty much have to leave all the old wiring in...
Edit, I think an alt that old will be externally regulated, this is where a good diagram comes in handy, figure out where the hot wire to the alt/reg is and personally I would just wire it through the same switch as the coil

1. Battery to toggle (off/ on) to dizzy.
2. Battery to push button to small post on selenoid closest to the block. The harder one to get at.
3. Big guage wire from bat to battery post on block
4. Big ground wire from frame/block to battery
Your alternator is fairly easy as well. There is a spot where there is a two prong plug. and you have a post on the back. Take a wire from the post to the prong that is farthest from the post. A jumper. Now run a wire from the post to battery. Start said vehicle and pull off the positive wire on the battery. If it stays running you jumped you are good to go. If it quits then you jumped the wrong wire or your alternator is bad.
As for the rest of your accessories. Battery switch acc. It doesnt hurt to run som in line fuses as well.
